    Schneider's best rekindled

    Article from Roosy here

In the Swans seconds, we have the luxury of controlling the amount of game time they get, what position they play and what goals we set.

We can even be very specific with them in terms of the number of tackles they have to make or getting them to run with the ball.

That's an enormous benefit because in senior football you don't know how much game time they are going to get and it's hard to set them goals.
I guess in the 2s they can't just say - do what you need to do to win, or there wouldn't be anything gained at all without those targets.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Hmmm, for all the concern over the way Sydney are handling the seconds, these are definate advantages compared to what the VFA aligned AFL clubs have. Just ask the Kangaroos.

"what goals we set" = "you must kick at least 5 goals or you played crap" = Sydney reserves.

And that's just for our back line.

Must sell 50 copies of "The Big Issue" to crowd at half time.

Here are some other options for the reserves next year.

Option 1: We play a imaginery reserves against imaginary opponents! Roosy and the coaching staff set goals for each player. So and so must lay 20 tackles, needs to shephard 14 times in the first 8 minutes. When they run out they visualise the another team, but there are only 18 men on the field - themselves!

Option 2: Virtual reserves - buy a big screen TV and play the reserves game on Sony Playstation AFL Live . If they don't win, they can just boot up again until they get the result they are looking for.

Option 3: Play with the little league at half time. Some of our reserves players aren't much bigger than 5 year olds anyway. Roosy and co, can still set targets like 'knock down two little tackers by the end of the fourth quarter.'

Option 4: Forget footy and have some fun - a carnival each weekend. Players can compete in the egg and spoon race, three legged race and tug of war. Winners get a balloon and smily stamp.

Option 5: Play in the ACTFL. Could be bad for the players' development though.
