Majestic, outstanding, brilliant performance tonight by Goodes.
He was my pick as captain three months ago and nothing has happened to make me change my mind. Hall is great but is capable of being kept out of the game, given his position.
No-one else at the club is capable of taking a game by the scruff of its neck quite like Goodes - he is da man!
While everyone deservedly talks up Goodesy, we shouldn't forget the game Kirk had tonight too. Found plenty of the ball and shut down Ricciuto. If Goodes doesn't get the job, I wouldn't be unhappy if Kirk got it.

He's a future Brownlow Medallist as well.
I knew what you meant!
It just sounded like a funny comment considering.

"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."
Kirk and Goodes were superior players tonight. They kept us in an even game when others were struggling to break the shackles applied by a very committed opposition. Kirk does this week in, week out. Goodes is really starting to show some consistency now that he is back running in the midfield. My choice for captain is Kirk, with Goodes as VC. When Kirky finishes up in 2-3 years, Goodes can step into the role.
Goodes is the man. If some of his teamates did good by him tonight we would of been praising this as one of the best individual performances from a Swan in a while.
Would like to know how many centre breaks and clearences the Goodes train got in the last quarter.

As much as I'd like to see Kirky as captain, it really has to be Goodes.
He is our best player and simply inspirational at times. His performance against the Crows was one of his best for the club.

I just can't split Jude, Kirk, Goodes and Barry Hall.
Kirk is the man.
He epitomises the grit of the Swans and appreciates the fans :
a "man of the people".
Very close would be Jubba.
I would rule out Goodes : I want him to just concentrate on cementing his place as one of the game's superstars.
He's a quiet bloke anyway and I don't think he needs the additional media committment of being captain.
I would also rule out Hall : he has done a terrific job of improving his on-field discipline but I still feel we need a cooler head for captain.
Now , what will the club look for in a captain ?
The ability to handle the media , be the "face" of the club and to provide onfield leadership.
I'd guess that most respondents to this thread - me included - are focussing mainly on the playing side of the role.
So , I will trust the club to choose wisely based on all three attributes.
Anyway , we've done ok with the current rotation policy.
As all the potential captains display leadership ability in all games , then maybe , from the playing side , who gets the role is probably more an interesting little discussion rather than a crucial decision for the club's future.
Hall lost me against the Crows.I was on tender hooks everytime he was near the ball.
I think Adam Goodes really proved himself last night. He stood upwhen the going got tough and led by example. He is a good, clean player and more importantly a respected player in the competition.
GOODES FOR CAPTAIN,JUDE FOR VICE.
Goodes for captain. A true leader and inspirational player. Forget last year and his dodgey knees, he's a champion player.
Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.
Hall showed last night why he is not a suitable captain. Giving away the penalty was unforgivable. I like Kirk and he would make a great captain but I would like a long term captain - Goodes should play for a long time yet. He obviously thrived on the additional responsibility of being captain. He can inspire the team, he speaks well in public and his Aboriginal heritage won't hurt either.
