Swans to wear a clash kit next year !

According to the Footy Show, 15 of the 16 club presidents today voted to bring in a compulsory clash strip for the 2006 season and beyond. So it is now a formality.

    So what does everybody want?

I for one would be happy with the white shorts, Red V on white and the candy stripe socks.

Who would it be against, just Brisbane?

Would I be wrong in assuming the Eddie was the one who voted against?

Seriously though, we don't have such an issue with clash strips, but games involving teams like Essendon, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide would benefit hugely from a lighter coloured clash strip just so the players, let alone the spectators can distinguish one team from another.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

If this is the case then the jumper design in the box seat is the current Red Vee hertiage jumper because of its mainly all-white design compared to the near all-Red "Home" jumper that we have at the moment.

You would think it would be an easy decision for the club to make, but not know what was agreed (ie, clash jumper must be made up of new colors) I not going to say that it must be the Red Vee, just that would be my pick.

It gets cold in mid winter so just a pair of socks may be inadequate.

(Though from the reaction at the AFL Club when Baz changed his shirt on TV last weekend, it could boost membership.)

Considering Eddie broke the story and that they have White Back Jumper they use to wear that "could" past as a clash strip, I would of thought Essendon would be the ones objecting considering they have "always" worn Black with a Red Sash and that their consitution has that they can't change their jumper.

                It was Eddie and Collingwood.

Agree as well, would not affect our overall colours and would also have some sort of significance as well. Near all Red for home and mainly all white for away.

Would be in raptures if we ran out in Melbourne next year in the Red V on the all white.

There's no excuse for it to be anything other than the Red V.

About bloody time common sense prevailed.

I'm pleased to see that the wording used was "one light strip, one dark strip" (paraphrasing). That'll stop useless alternate designs like Adelaide's away jersey, which is simply a rearrangement of the existing colours.

Home: Red back, red shorts, solid red socks.
Away: White back, white shorts, hooped socks.

Pretty simple. Home side chooses whether they want dark or light. Other team MUST choose the other unless there is a clear difference.

I'm happy for us to wear the red unless we play any other side with red in their jersey (it's not so bad for us, but it's more pronounced for some other clubs)

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Just a silly question, but do all 16 clubs have to provide a clash strip, or just the 15 that actually voted for it?

                          Except:
                          - the 1907 team wore a red sash.
                          - more importantly, it's not exactly going to excite the kiddies into purchasing another top.

I would prefer: red sash left shoulder to right hip for right footers, right shoulder to left hip for left footers. Red V for players who can kick on either foot.

                          Also, bring back the collar!

Not a silly question, my understanding is that a 2/3's majority of the 16 clubs means all clubs will have to have a light alternative clash jumper.

I am not too sure why Collingwood the only one against as they have a ready made one in their traditional mostly white, black and white stripes which will be fine for them to wear.

I would say that right now only Fremantle has a real clash strip. Red, green, white and purple is not just a guernsey that clashes, it's waging a major war.
