An interesting stat was in the Herald Sun last week... it was a cumulative ladder of all results from 2000-2005. The three premiership teams were in the top three positions - the order was Brisbane, Port then Essendon.

A few wins behind Essendon, we were actually the best of the rest. I don't know whether that's something to be pleased about or not. Daryl Timms noted that he was surprised how high we were.

As you'll notice Charlie, its because where we haven't made the finals over the past few years, we've still won a reasonable number of games (9.5 finishing 11th in 2002, 10 finishing 10th in 2000), so we haven't had a disastrous season really since 1994, where we won only 4 games (we won 8 in 95).

1994 also happened to be the last season we finished with a percentage under 100. Interestingly, since 2001 only Sydney, Port, Brisbane and Essendon have completed each season with a percentage above 100, while Essendon have the next longest streak behind us of completing seasons with percentage over 100 - the last time they finished with it under 100 was 1997 (although this year is looking good too).

          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

One interesting thing from this is that only in the last 2 years have we improved our position in the finals compared to the ladder position. I think that is a pretty big positive, something that we were never able to achieve with Eade as coach.

We were quite a way behind Essendon on wins but we were in a large group seperated by just a few wins.

The top three were well clear really. In fairness, we have probably been most consistent of the rest (at winning that is, not losing!)
