      Let's hope Schauble is fit by the next time we play a team with a FF over 6 foot.

        I don't think Schauble could have done any better tonight. Most of his marks were taken on leads. I still think Leo is the best matchup for Lloyd. The bigger FFs I'd prefer Schauble.

          Agree. Lloyd's hands tonight were very sure. Took a few strong marks at almost full pace on the lead. No way Schauble would have been able to do any more than Leo.

          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

            Yep. Essendon stayed in that game through pure kicking skill. Skill to hit a lead lace out 45m away, and skill to shoot 10 goals 1 behind from all over the forward 50.

            How good would we be with that sort delivery.

              Not the best performance by sydney, but the most pleasing aspect is the way they hung in there when Essendon hit the front and responded.
              Hall 7 goals, thankfully a on night
              And great work in defence especially Tadgh and Craig Bolton.

                  That was the worst of several controversial decisions apparently made solely to get the Bombers across the line. I note we no longer see the AFL website run the segment to justify the umpiring decisions. This week would be a doozy. For a while it looked like the Swans had to play to different rules for holding, tackling and marking - imagine how many games we'd be clear if Baz got the soft frees that go to Lllloyd?

                    Will be interesting to see which ones get put to Humphery-Smith on Tues night's WLF.

                      I've only watched the second half so far, but I noticed a lot of the free kicks were our defenders grabbing opponents' jumpers. Why do we do that all the time?

                      Also I noticed a lot of frees were given advantage to Essendon so weren't really a major issue.

                      I gather we were screwed a bit in the first half, which I will watch tomorrow.

                        I was looking through the AFL record 2005 book when I came across the free kicks section. Interestingly, they have broken it down into:
                        * frees for/against - correct
                        * frees for/against - missed
                        * frees for/against - unwarranted

                        Note that in 2004 we had the 2nd most number of unwarranted free kicks against, but were the least in the number of unwarranted free kicks for.
                        Anyone know whether these stats are available anywhere?

                          Yahooooooooooooooooooo!

                          Ryan played well. I was very happy. McLaren is a first class idiot. As always, we make it exciting in the end.

                            Loved the game!
                            Hated the umpiring!
                            Disagreed with the 50 against crouch (umps tried there best for ess to win)
                            Over all came home happy!

                              I am convinced that the umps use a completely different set of rules for lloyd as they do for Hall. Lloyd is almost intouchable. Not that I give too much of a **** cause we WON! Finally, that hoodoo is behind us and we ended, once and for all, any slim hope they had of September action. Woo-hoo!!!

                              Bring on the Lions.

                                Wrong. A completely different set of rules for Lloyd and another set for the rest of the players.
