The ideal run to the finals

My wish list for the remainder of the regular season:

    1. Sydney win their remaining games, no injuries.

    2. Adelaide, West Coast and Saints all drop at least one game before the finals (Adelaide / West Coast play each other so we are pretty well guaranteed a loss by one of them).

    Would be nice.

I went to the Dome on Friday night to see the Saints Geelong game (with a Saints fan). It's a long time since I've watched a game live as a neutral.

Saints were not particularly impressive. Geelong were dreadful (apart from Scarlett, who played a blinder on Gehrig). At their best the Saints are a very very good team but I still reckon they think they're better than they are. A lot of their play was very indirect and half their team was pretty half-hearted.

But is it better coming 5th and getting a home final 1st up, or coming 4th and having to travel to Perth for potentially a much harder game that, if lost, makes you play another game anyway and takes a higher toll on the team?

      If you can follow that!

The ideal scenario is that WC drop a couple, and Adelaide keep wining, such that the round 22 clash between the two is a battle for top spot meaning a bone crunching affair, then we (if 3rd or 4th) play them the week after.

Yeah but who do you reckon will win that one?
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

I rather go into a match in week one with a double chance rather than a home game and as we saw last year that home ground advantage in week 2 if we lose week 1 is worth its weight in gold.

I say get in the Top 4 and hope for the best.

Our game against the Roos in round 21 is crucial. The Roos also play the Saints in round 20, so hopefully the Roos will drop that one. The Roos have been lucky in the last fortnight but on the bright side they have only won by 6 and 4 points so our modest 20-point and 21-point wins have been percentage boosters by comparison.

With luck, the Saints will beat the Roos, we will beat the Lions and then we beat the Roos. We would then have our top four spot sealed up by the time we meet the Hawks.

Or if the Roos beat the Saints then lose to the Eagles and we win all of ours, we'd be in third.

Which we are a better chance to win than at Subi.

Why not trust our boys to win all three, which will guarantee top 4. In which case we're better off if the Roos beat the Saints, as that will leave 3rd place to us.

We have some sort of chance of beating Adelaide in a QF at AAMI. I reckon we have a lower chance of beating them there in a PF after they've had a week off. We have almost no chance of beating WC at Subi in either a QF or PF.

WC. The local fans I talk to are a little scared of Adelaide but Adelaide in Perth aren't particularly frightening IMHO. A loss by the Eagles would mean the wheels have well and truly fallen off.

                          They could tie.

                            Thus "pretty well" guaranteed.
