LRT - Why has he improved?

I think there are 2 core reasons why he has improved.

The first one got a bit of media a fortnight ago and that is his body contests have improved under the expensive eye of SOS. He is making himself all arms and legs and very awkward for opposition forwards. Big Tick, well done LRT.

The second reason is less LRT and more his running colleagues...particularly the Tiger. My theory is that when LRT is contesting, ground level or not, Tiger and co are running past meaning he doesn't have to work a miracle of taking the disposal, getting to his feet and dishing off by foot or hand.

The second aspect may seem like a normal team thing to do and what all good running backlines should do. It is. Previously left to fend for himself, LRT was struggling, by Tiger Leo, Bolts and co backing him up, LRT gets to dispose BY HAND (very important) and look good, but it also forces a stationary backline to get their skates on.

Anyway, that's my JFK/LRT magic bullet theory. Anybody else like to add anything?

      Good points.

      He improved because he had to - obviously a very capable sportsman and having no idea of AFL, then... {Yazz}

      SOS has definitely helped.

The back line does seem to be rebounding better and also the wing areas are making more space hence providing more options out of defence. So, you're right LRT has been able to find options to handball to dirrectly in front of him.

I also think all of these things are helping his confidence enormously so he feels less like a fish out of water and more like an AFL footballer.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Yeah, what it does is reduce his thinking/fu#k up time.

His natural instincts are good. Reckon it's a bit of subtle coaching genius to keep his involvement at instinct level until his skills improve in years to come.

Bullseye. The more time LRT has holding the ball the more nervous he becomes. The support the other backs have been giving him of late is fantastic and its creating quick rebounds which is what Roosy is after.
In the Bombers game where he took that mark near our F50 you could see his mind racing, his head was turning this way and that then he just gave an ordinary handball.
His defensive play has move forwards in leaps and bounds, whether that is due to SOS or other unseen forces its all good

The working with SOS, is no doubt being shown in his on field performances.
Still prone to stuff ups when he has to much time to think what to do, but I guess that will improve over time.
At least his body positioning and marking/spoiling are getting better

I'm led to beleive Kouta's been teaching him how to carry the ball one handed.

Steve Slivangi. Channel 10 commentator and one time Carlton fullback. Also moonlights as full-back-of-the-century.
Called SOS because his father also played for Carlton, so was called "Son of Silvangi" from early on.
