The 14yr old will have a chaperone but some places don't allow a 14yr old in - so is PJ O'Briens, a pub or restaurant a strip club of a gay bar?
      or none of the above?

        R u serious? Is Bon only 14?

I dont agree with JF that there arent many good places to have breakfast around Central and there are quite a few places in Surry Hills. Depends on what you are looking for (price, venue, type of food and number of people going). Let me know and I'll draw upon my previous ten years experience of living in Surry Hills to try to give you some ideas. Chinatown/Haymarket is near Central so you could even do Yum Cha if that appeals?

I dont know PJ O'Briens but it sounds like one of those pseudo Irish pubs that sprouted up all over Sydney during the late 90's.

Central?! Not bloody likely For some of us who actually go EAST to get to homebush, we'll see you all at the Brewery!

wrt the OP's question.. Errr.. there's not much to do in Olympic Park before the game except go to the pub. I guess it depends if they are having something on in the park beforehand, they do that sometimes...

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Unfortunately because of the 1:10pm starts for Sunday afternoon games in Sydney, your options are limited as far as eating out before the game is concerned - might not be enough time for yum cha! So brunch might be a better option for you.

Don't know if you've been to a game at the Olympic stadium before, but the Olympic Park trains will get you to Telstra Stadium in less than 30 minutes from Central, so you could get the train as late as 12:30 and probably still get to the game in time for the opening bounce (just!), if that helps.

There's lots of food outside the stadium on game days - if the weather is good you could get there early and have lunch in the Overflow (the park in between the stadium and the showgrounds).

Yum Cha is traditionally breakfast or brunch

I've been to Homebush many times but like most of you not for a day game!

that's true - it's been a long time since i've had it! Since Chinatown is so close to Central, that might be your best bet then. There are several places that do yum cha there - off the top of my head there's Kam Fook (top floor of Market City shopping centre), East Ocean (a bit further), Silver Spring (I think it's called). Hard to say which one is the best - I'm no expert!

                    Ha ha! Yeah, ONLY 14!

Cher does it make more sense to have a gathering at Homebush? I don't care where we do the gig but as long as everybody attends. If you don't, beware the BonBon that has two hands (nobody knows what little me is capable of)!

For AM there's a pub beside Strathfield station, (north side) don't know the name, but the bar is called Platform nine. Or even the legendary (of Wests RL fame) Railway Hotel at Lidcomble. Either have to be better than the Brewery and would be convenient for Westies and inner city types. Could even be a restaurant or two around for a feed as well.

I'm on seat saving duty - and as I come from the south, I get the bus directly from Miranda or Menai - so will no doubt see you there when you get to your seats. (and if you are a good girl for Aunty Cher Bon you might just get a present!) But I will have a nice popper bottle of "Ribena" there to assist in celebrating!

Only for those travelling by train though. For those travelling by bus Strathfield is not really an option. The necessities of parking also restrict those using a car.
