Sigh, another link to the 96 team is gone. Well done on your career Nicksy, I'll always remember your dashing darts from the HBF, and the caning you handed out to Matera last year.

Far out man, I am heavily upset. I want to just cry on someones shoulder.
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

I had a feeling that this would occur...

Thanks Matthew for all the memories. You were and still are my favourite player. You are a champion bloke and I wish you the best.

I thought you meant Nick Davis (ie "Nick's") rather than Matthew Nicks (ie, "Nicks' ").

Anyway, enough from the grammar police. Sad for Nicksy as he is (was) a good swingman, could play tall and a good mark for his height. Pity he couldn't kick a set shot for goal, or he'd've been an ideal small forward that would be very tough to match up.
Now what was he. A tallish wingman who could take a good mark
who would have been a good short forward if he could kick a set shot goal. That is what I call versatile. Did he grow then shrink to fit the Roos and Eade weekly matchups.

I even recall him playing clean shaven with a full beard, and hair today gone tomorrow.

I asked him about the shaved head last year and he replied "There wasn't much hair left anyway. And as I'm playing forward up near Baz I thought I'd shave my head and see if they kicked the ball to me more often."

Great bloke, great character - even if during the Brisbane game this year I was looking for a shotgun. When on song he seemed to have an uncanny nack of getting free with no opponent.

By his performances at AM's, Trivia nights etc he seems ideal for the media. How good has he been on MMM? Some-one told me he christened the bread man Luff Junior the other night.

don't forget that brisbane game when he forced the ball away from a lion to the ground TWICE in the last quarter resulting in goals - winning the game! 1%ers aren't big enough for that!
all the best - from one team of bloods to another. nicksy for the the next (mark) jacko OI!

I think I remember that game. Dunks gave Bazza a bath, and I think Dale Lewis took a speccy?

Yeh , I noticed Hall got 3 goals from 3 marks (5 poss), and Dunkley got Votes. It would be interesting to see a rematch between Dunkley (then), and Hall (now)!!

                            Congrats Nicksy.

If you're ever after some beer buddies I'm sure you'll find some in the RWO.

Here's to enjoying the criket season without having to worry about pre-season training.

And Baz gave away 3 free kicks....sigh, some things never change apparently.

Yep, I'll second everything everyone's said.

An excellent footballer, who could be trusted to do something good with the ball in his hands. Despite the lousy kicking for goal, that Saints game (in the wet, as I recall) was up there in the most dominating individual performances I've seen.

Sad to see him go, and especially sad to see that the teams playing links with 1996 dwindle further, but by the same token he's picked the right time to pull the pin, i.e. better too early than too late.

Stevie obviously has a lot to offer off-field, and if it's not a media job, I hope he offers his skills to Sydney rather than doing a Cressa!
