    Vogels interview

Vogels said he played about half the game coming on as a half-forward to relieve tiring teammates.

    ...

"I come on for a bit each quarter when they need a break. I've been in pretty good form."

Last year's Maskell medallist said he often talked to Swans coach Paul Roos.

"He tells me how I'm going and he's a very astute coach," Vogels said.
For those who qn Roos' coaching ability.

While I'm not disputing Vogels' assessment, it would be pretty unusual for any league player, let alone a rookie, to declare that

"I talk to the coach often but to be honest he's a bit of a dunderhead so I don't take much notice of what he says."

True. But he could of just said "Yeh, he's a good coach"

PS: Dunderhead seems to be the word of the week.

Or "To be honest, he's a good coach". That would surely bring the message home.

I can see this is the reason why Sanecow didn't play AFL!!

I still reckon Vogels will be a gun of the future. Just a gut feeling based on what I've seen him do so far.

As an example, did anyone see his gather and kick in the forward line in the first quarter last weekend. The kick travelled about 3m off the ground for most of its 45m journey. Sure it missed the goals, but thats the sort of bullet passing and kicking our team has been lacking over the last few years.

And for those who have commented on his lack of chasing and defensive pressure, how do they explain his tackling stats against Adelaide?

And here was I, two days ago, begging the team and coaching staff to use some different words! Astute suits me fine. Nice work, Luke!

You must be happy, Tuesday. I mean, your golden boy used the word astute. And here you were freaking out over a semi-colon .

Showing some good skills isn't he? His game against the Doggies is still my favourite. The long accurate 50 metre pass to Jude's chest from defence. His thunder bolt pass to Magic's chest which led to a shot on goal.

Oh, right! Who could forget his 2 goals at the death of the game?

                        I was suitably impressed.

Although it was a different golden boy entirely, nothing says love like the correct use of a semi-colon!

What a ridiculous comment that is. As if he's going to bag him, and he's a first year player who wouldn't know any different.

I like the fact that Vogels has already played in a successful campaign with the Bloods, according to that article.

But it is handy to have another genuine tall in the forward line.
Makes us less Hall-centric. After the Dogs game I was hopeful he'd become a gun but seemed to go missing a while - I think he was injured - but hopefully now he'll stay in the team for the finals.

I didn't think he would bag the coach, my comment was to posters here who have bagged the coach in the past.
