Dont know if this has been posted or anything... but the grass that is relaid is now fresh, new and unused. Previously it had been grass kept underneath the stands and continually watered and replaced only when necessary. But as of this year they have begun having a new batch of grass every time to put in. They will put this in at about 11:30pm on Saturady night and it will be all set for Saturday. Expect the grass to be very slippery underfoot for the players, esp after extensive watering to remove logos etc.

The solution's obvious, tell LRT to drop kick for goal this weekend if he gets hold of the ball up forward.
Can any of our resident researches tell me who was the last player to kick a goal with a drop kick in the afl?

Why did AFL agree to swap for the damn rugby?
Sat night would of been great.
They have so much work to do to set up for us hope all goes to plan and no motors break down.

I feel Rugby owe us now or Telstra Stadium whoever made the stuff up.
            Love those Swans

the ARU are arrogant pratts and Telstra could see the $$$ signs - they charge like wounded bulls for the Bledisloe cup games ie - $90 for the cheap nose bleed seats - and you cant see that much from up there!
So TS figured they would make more money out of the rugby than AFL - also the ARU do not communicate with either the AFL or the NRL with regards to fixtures, it just does what it pleases.

I hope the Wallabies get thrashed!

Indeed it did - being fairly close to ground level, the advertising wasn't too noticeable - how did it show up on TV? As for the surface, it looked fantastic and seemed to play that way too. It's a long way from a couple of years ago where it was like playing at Bondi Beach.

It looked really good on TV and in fact the atmosphere seemed really good for a day game.

Congratulations must surely go to the Telstra Stadium staff for pulling it off. Ground looked in excellent nick and they obviously worked hard to get it that way.

They showed a great timelapse sequence before the game started on Ch 9 on the staff getting the ground ready overnight.

Both were just fantastic today. The surface was remarkably good. Pretty firm and nicely grassed.

The atmosphere was just fantastic behind the goals. I didn't have a drum but had the whole area behind me joining in the chanting, even the "!! !!! !!!! SYDNEY" one!

I just can't get over how good things were for a day game out there. Our side of the ground was completely in the shade, so it was nice and pleasant and comfortable. Lots of families with little ones, a nice happy bouyant crowd. Even the guy with the Lions guernsey painted onto his torso was in remarkable spirits despite the scoreline. Even used a Sun Herald as 'snow' during the wave in the last quarter. I'm normally not a fan of the wave, but it was pretty fun seeing everyone enjoying themselves.

A great day for the Swans, but more importantly a great day for Australian Rules Football in Sydney. How many people are going to be talking about the Swans as opposed to the Wallabies after the events of this weekend!?

Im really content with life today. Are any of you feeling the same as me?

I havent stopped smiling since Sydney's first goal (other than a few dodgey umpiring decisions). I was sitting down your end JF and I agree - great atmosphere.

The ground did look to be in pretty good condition - it felt a bit strange going to a day game at TS, took a while getting used to the sun, the shadows, a little disorienting at first after being used to the SCG, but I liked it.

And TS is SO much better at handling 40,000+ crowds than the SCG. Obviously, given that it can hold twice as many as that!
Even getting in and out is pretty easy. Triple M commented on the Swans' eastern suburbs supporter base not liking to travel there for games - but I'm from the Eastern Suburbs and I have no problems with attending games there.
