It's possible, but the assessment of their injuries from last night, and depending on what the injury situation is coming out of tonight's game for the Lions could have a huge impact on their game next week.

Having said that, 3rd place is within in our reach and we have full control over getting there - if we win both our remaining two games, it doesn't matter whether St Kilda win or lose next week.

How stupid do I feel? In the staff room yesterday I made a big song and dance about Freo will win as The Saints are hopeless travellers and the culture at their club is stuffed, just the usual stirring stuff you do on Fridays,so I picked Freo in the tipping and their all laughed at my stupidity.
I went to bed at half time as it had been a big week and I very despondent with Freo's efforts. Why didn't I stay up and see the great finish. I hate it when I do that!!!!!!

        Correct sentiment, wrong month.

Funny how some people get funny about idle trade talk or next year's fixture, but there are already plans on various finals outcomes. Let's hope it's not 2004 again!

Couldn't agree more. I don't remember ever being so frustrated watching a non Swans game. The phrase one man team could have been invented for them - although McPharlin was good too.

Anyway, they did the right thing in the end - thanks to frees (as you said) and injuries. It's starting to feel as though the footy gods are watching over us this year - Freo winning that game was a miracle.

If the Swans played as badly as Freo did, I'd stop watching them. It sees like the Saints had to take a player off every five minutes until Freo had a chance and it looked like they still wouldn't get going when the game was there to be won.

I've been thinking of the premiership clock. Although we are only about a 25% chance to take the flag, in hindsight we may look back on the last 12 weeks of the season as being the 12 chimes of the clock:
R15 - Good win over Geelong.
                R16 - Beat Melbourne away.
R17 - Knocked off the Eagles at home.
R18 - Narrow loss to the Crows in a game we could have won
R19 - Beat Essendon in Melbourne for the first time in 16 years.
                R20 - Demolished Brisbane.
                R21 - ??
                R22 - ??
                Week 1 - ??
                Week 2 - ??
                Week 3 - ??
                Grand Final - ??

If the clock does not chime 12 times then it's not our year.

I was playing poker last night (had a good night, winning $110) and we had the football on in the background. During the last three minutes the poker was completely disregarded as we got involved in the game. When that tackle was laid in the last minute, I forgot I wasn't at the game and I yelled out "Ball" so loud that I scared the **** out of everyone. The majority of us were cheering Freo on (one or two Saints supporters with us were not as happy).

All in all it was a good night last night.

Last night, Subi looked more like the Gabbatoir for the Swaints, well any abbatoir, actually. The number of injuries was astounding. I wonder how much the ground conditions had to do with it?

Unless the Swans miss the plane or get lost on the way to the MCG next week, we have a good chance of meeting Adealide at AAMI. Of course we have to beat north at the SCG tommorrow and while it is no small feat the Swans can do it provided they kick straight and come down hard in the fourth quarter

it's a hard ground . Big men fall hard with no cushion effect, if they are not used to it.No wonder no side east of the Swan Riverwants to play a final in Perth

They are what I consider to be the two most likely sets of preliminary finals, given St Kilda's injuries.

Let me ponder this then ...
Why am I getting nervous that last nights result is not in our best interest ?
Consider that coming 3rd will see us play the Crows in the first week of the finals - Lose, and we will most likely face the Eagles at Subiaco in the preliminary ...

First week becomes a MUST win ... The Eagles at Subiaco is TOO daunting - I'd rather face THAT in the first week when we still have a double chance

I'm sure there will be comments ...

If we can't beat the Crows in the first week why will we beat them in the PF? Playing them after a trip back from Subi is going to be much easier than playing them in a PF after a weeks break.
