    leo barry

In my opinion, Leo Barry is a great player for the swans!! He has a lot of heart and passion for the swans. It loves the game and that comes through in his play.
I haven't seen that much on here bagging Leo.

Leo a 'great player'for the swans? What do you smoke ?What is this crap about not being a swan supporter and criticising our players? We, the paying members, have every bloody right to get stuck into our players .....it is only our opinions.
Leo? A servicable player at best and anyone who thinks that he is 'decisive' is definately on the weed......BUT , in fairness, sometimes our backs struggle to FIND an option forward and this creates the indecision. There is a place for Leo (who else have we got?) and his running game (against usually the wek opposition) is exciting BUT i still think he is not timing his leaps well enoughat the moment and has caused too many easy goals as he is caught out and slow to recover.
        GREAT player....he'll never be that.

At least he is better than McPherson and Warfe

Can play tall or short in defence

          Can play forward or back

          A much better mark

Much tougher., more run and MORE FUTURE !

I guess tonight's performance might shut some mouths for awhile, eh? Classy stuff!

IMO, barry's tackle on licuria was the match sealer as it ended up in ND's hands and the resulting goal finished the game, it was a 12 point turn around from that tackle alone, IMO... instead of being 20 up, we coulda been 8 up with a couple of minutes left... daunting thought

Barry played his usual game IMHO. Did some good things and did some stupid things. That's what you get with the way he plays. Still, I think he is an overall positive as he adds a lot of spark.

Leo Barry is only one of the select few I have seen in my time when surrounded by 3 or 4 opposition players can manage to twist baulk weave out of the whole pack and run away. When it works it is simply amazing, when it doesnt...well you just wished he kicked it as soon as he got it.
But thats leo and he provides enormous drive most of the time.

Sorry about that, I intended that comment to be a harmless jibe, I meant no offence, sorry if caused any.

Back to the footy, I always been a fan of Leo and his ability to take some spectular grabs, sounds like he (and the team as a whole) performed well yesterday, hope this form continues!

Great tackle by Leo and even I have to say it was probably the hardest he has ever played.

But why is it that everyone at the game went for the heart tablets everytime he got the pill? Because when he gets the pill
he is like a Catholic outside the Chemist shop. Gets the pill but doesn't know to do with it.

Sure as someone said he is almost a contourshionist the way he twists and turns to get out of situations. But he got himself into those situations by running the wrong way, turning around on the spot and inexlicably as he does, changing direction and running on to his wrong foot and into trouble. At the Dome you are right on top of the players and most of the time he changed his mind from viable options to "hospital handpasses", and his indecision got himself into awful trouble.

Granted it was a great tackle, but equally he gave an unforgiveable turnover at a vital time when he ran too far. Every Swans fan at the ground was stunned but not surpised that he "forgot" to take a bounce. He was also lucky not to have been pinged for holding the ball at least 3 times.

The positive was that he found the footy. For a change he read the play coming down the ground, and was right in the tough one on one contests. If he had got his disposals and decision making right it could well have been the perfect performance.

As Roos said, he has been given licenece to run and carry the ball. Now show him how to dispose of it correctly please and give the fans' cardiovascular systems a chance.

i suppose that i could have been considered a moderate ctitic of Leo and probably remain so.He had an excellent game and had the usual explosions of in decision but ,undoubtedly, justified his position.(I have never really thought that he should be dropped but he is not an 'essential' part of the back line)
I have ,however, been an admirer of Mathews and accept the continuous vitriol on him from many on this site (it is there right after all).....BUT he has been great this season and had more kicks than any player last night (16) together with ,mainly, quality handballs and important tackles.Much unappreciated in this forum but much understood by his team mates and the club.

Agree that Benny Mathews had a good solid game. If he had played the whole game like he did the first quarter, he would have snatched BOG.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Yep - I think Matthews had another good game. Kicking forward and not putting teammates under pressure, and finding the target pretty well. Seems a few of the players have started to take that next step (finally, thank goodness).
