    Finals Captain?

Paul Roos said yesterday he hadn't made his mind up regarding Captaincy during the finals. Leo Barry has the job for the next two weeks. Who should be the finals skipper?

    Goodes.

    Failing that, Maxfield.

    Failing that, Hall.

    Failing that, Kirk.

    Maybe Jude.

    Perhaps even Leo.

Bring back Maxy! He's had a ****ty year, it'd be great to see him captain us in the finals. I hope he's working hard this week!

I don't think Stuart is even in the mix anymore considering he stepped down to allow the rotation to take place. So I would go with Goodes, followed by Hall and Jude.
        Once was, now elsewhere

Any reports on how he went in the ressies?

Can't see him being captain tho no matter how convenient it would be. He's resigned & for good reason as he's not around the club 100% of the time.

I think the appropriate result would be to say there have been 3 stand-outs (Hall, Goodes & Kirk) & they will act as a "committee" for the finals with each having a turn as official "captain".

Why are the most important questions always the hardest to answer? Don't answer that.

For me Hall, Goodes and Kirk should be Co-Captains throughout the series (I hope it's a series). Yes, fatten my face and call me G.T.

I know that sounds weak and indecisive, but I can't get a struck match between them. I can only imagine it making the team stronger.

They are a team within a team as well. They're playing for each other.

As for the toss of the coin, then rotate that little duty, but these guys are the leaders of our "leaders".

I'd say Barry Hall because as a swans supporter i can see great leadership in him & hes the man who can take us to a GF.
Forget about Hall, it's all about Bradshaw

I agree. Make the ? best captains from this years H and A games, co-captains for the final series.
Anyone suggesting bringing back stewie for the finals as Capatin must not understand the influence a captain can have on a team especially at finals time.
Stewie has no credentials this year to lead this team towards anything, especially when so many have done so much as leaders this year.
It would be a mistake to bring stewie back as captain, he needs to prove through form in the seconds that he is up to taking someone elses place in this the best situated team to win a grand final since 1933.

Totally disagree...the man has all the credentials in the world..proven ability as captain, total respect of the players and coach. The only question is whether his form will allow him to have an impact as a player...so if his form warrants a place back in the seniors (and if someone deserves to be dropped) I would have no qualms whatsoever if he was made captain again

Ultimately it depends where the powers-that-be are in their decision making for the new captain.

Have they already made a decision? I would hope not...I think the would-be captain should prove themselves in finals

A short list may not work...depends how many are on the list and how many finals we end up playing.

What would be the impact on the others if either someone is named OR if they arent on the short list? Would playing finals be enough motivation to oversome any disappointment on missing out? I would hope it would be...but should we let the whole leadership group keep playing with the added incentive

Not sure about co-captains....who would go up to collect the premiership cup??

even though i think the rotation system has been a success, i think it is time to select the permanent and future captain.
my preference would be goodes, but i think the rotation has demonstrated that hall, kirk and bolton would be worthy captains also.

it might be best to do it now so there two games before the finals for players to bond with the idea but maybe a low-key announcement (no distracting fanfare please) the first monday of the finals week might work too.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Roos has stated a decision will not be made until after this year is complete.

Kirky, Baz or Goodes - god I hope they make a decision soon!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
