    JOLLY Vs OTTENS

Last year we missed out on Ottens and picked up THE "BIG J"
What do RWO'S think of the outcome for us based on performance and potential of the two players?

Pretty hard to tell until ottens is injury free but at this stage I'd take Jolly.

I was just going to point out that Jolly has missed less games than Ottens due to injury.

Jolly was a great buy and given Doyle's injury, somewhat essential.

i'd take jolly over ottens anyday.

ottens may have a lot of good qualities but i think he may be one of the dumbest footballers i've seen. anyone else seen an interview?
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Ottens is older (ok so its only a year), costs more, has been injured a LOT in the last few years (think Doyle-esque) and didn't want to come here anyway. Kind of obvious which is/has been better for us.

Biggest difference is that Ottens would have cost a lot more and to date his output has been relatively ordinary.

                  Could Ottens piggyback a Sherrin?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Jolly has been a sound investment.
Ottens, one could say, is overrated.

Yes..that sums it up...no substance....but when said like that it seems a bit harsh on Ottens as he is highly skilled and has had a rotten run with injuries.

I think what I was trying to say was something along the lines that we may not have got the star(the fur coat) but we did get a player of good value. That sounds quite lame!!!

The bottom line is,I like Jolly being in our team.
