Yep, prior opportunity without having prior opportunity.

Are you serious?? The prior opportunity is for them to hit the ball. You have been wondering about this for how many years now??

The rules are all fine. Its just the referees are too inconsistant both within matches and across different matches, weeks and seasons.

I would just like them to make goal kickers kick quicker for goals and do ball ups much quicker around the ground. Oh and give the person attacking the ball the benefit of the doubt rather than the second man in.

Like others, holding the ball frustrates hell out of me.

If a player is tackled immediately, but has not had prior opportunity, however has one arm free it is deemed holding the ball. Where was the prior opportunity?

Also, if a player tries to break the pack, it's often (but not always) deemed that there was either no prior opportunity or it was held to him.

The rule where you can run with the ball for so many steps before bouncing it...

Imagine if the steps were unlimited. A player just tucking the ball under their arm and charging through the players from one end of the field to the other and getting a goal. Ace.

Do they also have that stupid one-punch rule? I'm pretty sure one of them has a five-punch minimum!!

That would be Union. League is an eight punch minimum, but that's only really enforced for teams from outside Sydney.

In some games it is unlimited, such as internationals.
