Originally posted by Foreign Legion Good win but gee the pressure went off after half time - understandably I guess.
3.8 after half time was not good - but we look to have only Jason Ball as an injury worry and possibly Leo Barry.
Maybe those two will get a rest next week?
Yep, 3.8 in the second half was not too good. Thought we stuffed around a bit with little chippy kicks rather than put their last line under pressure, and the forwards seemed to lead bit late so didnt appear to get ground on their opponents.
We missed a heck of a lot of point blank shots today.
The only thing that really irked me was our insistance in trying to find a short target from a mark just outside 50, when top of the square would have been a better option. Then maybe that is a team plan as they have done it all year. When Hall found Schneider he ran off under extreme pressure and sprayed it. Why?
Was it just me, or did O'Loughlin have a terrible day? Not saying he played badly, just that he was constantly being frustrated and ineffective. He was in a lot of contests but seemed to constantly be facint 2-on-1 contests or just being spoiled.
I put it down to being very tightly defended... his opponent must've been close to their best on ground.
Maybe you should compare notes with Nico. High bombs to the square with Magic sitting under them with defenders coming over the top, is not good percentage footy for this team. Directed passing into the 50 seemed to work well in the first half
We won and that's the important thing. Guaranteed fourth spot with guaranteed third if we beat the Hawks. Let's hope the Eagles win against the Crows at home next week.

Originally posted by SXP According to Roos it was very warm causing the game to slow down in second half. I wasn't there, but the people who were, could you confirm it?
Was a very sunny day and warm in the sun (which the players would have been).
First quarter and a bit was the most efficient, ruthless footy they've played all year, even more so than the second quarter against the Cats.
Yes, it fell apart in the second half but can forgive them that.
How ordinary were the Roos today? If it wasn't for Grant and, to a lesser extent Jones, they mightn't have scored all day. Great to see Dempster able to pretty much shut down Wells. Means there are several roles he can play in the team.
And LRT - what can one say. Third week in a row he's been in our best half a dozen. I know we all reckon 'Most Improved" is a toss-up between Ablett and Buchanan but I'd give it to LRT now - for improvement within a season it's hard to think of any effort quite like his.
Originally posted by ItsAllGoodes Rhino now has an appointment at the tribunal...it was not a hard knock but being to the head he may be offered a 1 week suspension
Is that official?
He was unlucky that the Roos player had his head down at the time, so it looked much worse than it would have normally.
That sort of thing happens many times a game.
What about Goodes? He did hit his opponent several times with a clenched fist. Again nothing in it, but with the current tribunal, who knows.
I just keep thinking of the Fraser Gehrig example.
