    Next week's scenario

We beat the hawks, who look like they are seriously tanking, so shouldnt get involved in anything physical.

Rest Ball, perhaps leo barry. Get Schuable and Malceski out there. And anyone else who might be called up for a finals game.

Then, have Adelaide and WC battle it out as a "grand final preview", with the crows losing by a small margin, and question marks over whether the Roo and Mcleod can overcome the minor injuries they sustain.

Far, far to conservative. At the very least, the "grand final preview" should become known throughout the ages, as Bloody Saturday at Subiaco.

To be perfectly honest we don't need to make any changes to the side unless anyone fails to recover in time for the match. No point risking players if they could do further damage, but at the same time no point risking team balance or team momentium going into the finals just to rest players for resting them sake.

Sound player management of the 22 that went around today is the better idea because regardless of today's win, we still have to lock down 3rd spot with the West Coast vs Adelaide match starting just before the end of our match and the St Kilda vs Brisbane match starting at 7pm. Therefore we could "still" end up anywhere in week one and no ladder position within the Top 4 is certain, only the 4 teams that will make up each half of the Top 4.
      Once was, now elsewhere

I'd give Ball a week, if he thinks it's the right thing to do. Jolly can take the bounces, and Goodes can ruck around the ground. JB would benefit from a rest... although with his career coming to an end at the end of the year, he might want to savour every possible moment.

So he really is going to retire?

ROK may also have an enforced holiday as well. If he gets more than a week he's unlucky. I'm hoping he gets a "reprimand", is found not guilty or the charge is withdrawn.

If he does have a "holiday" then Saddo can replace him.

I'm sure he'll only get one at most. If that's what they offer him, they should take it as we can survive without him against the Hawks.

No, he's planning to play until he's 80.

It was discussed in the latest Swans magazine as if it is a fait accompli.

Ball has since said that he's enjoying playing so much this year that he may play on next year - but will retire if we win the premiership.
