Most oputstanding thing about LRT [apart from his ability to stand on the mark] is his courage and athleticism in contesting pack marks when he is otherwise out of position. He has the athleticism and courage to leap into packs at any angle. Even if he doesn't grab the mark he is making the spoil. Takes real ticker. Leo and B2 ditto

What I find amusing is that LRT "faithful" on RWO, rather than acknowledging LRT's huge improvement and obvious hard work are pretending that LRT's awful start to the season didn't exist. I saw him live running around the field 30m behind play and being ignored; he was awful, poor stats aside. Besides which, I only asked for one mark a game.

I beg your pardon. My impression was the reverse. Instead of acknowledging LRT's hard work, the easy way out for some people was to point to SOS. IIRC, in most of the posts while LRT's performance was acknowledged, I could find a mention to SOS somehow and with stronger tone too, certainly if the posts come from a certain quarter of the posters.

No one doubts that SOS did indeed help LRT a fair bit but the main credit should remain with LRT himself. The way he stands tall through all of these would make him a better player. "Been there, done that" would mean he should know how to deal any problems which might come his way in the future.

Always interesting these types of comments - sort of like FoxNews - "some people say..."

Frankly this forum over-emphasises LRT's "good" and "bad" stuff in almost equal measures. Had a good day on Sunday but there were plenty better. Couple of excellent highlights (outsmarting Colbert in the last was a beauty) but there were plenty of other players that deserve more attention.

I don't recall calling for his head and having him axed. I do remember being very critical but also saying we should give him a chance until the end of the year. I did lament the crappiness of our reserves as I would have preferred for him to play in the reserves (if they were any good that is).

I've never actually been anti-LRT as you call it - I simply pointed out his bad points and poor games, and there were plenty of them earlier this year.

I have acknowledged his improvement and I did not note some positive aspects also earlier in the year.

So, I have had a far more balance view of LRT than you.

However, those doomsayers like ScottH and Sanecow wouldn't know a footballer from a scarecrow and so of course they had no idea when they were bagging LRT!!

A scarecrow beat LRT in round 3 which caused the confusion.

I think he was outpositioned by the CS banner earlier in the season too.

Did someone mention Worzel Gummidge a while ago...?

And I still stand by that, he was crap in the first half+ of the year. I had enough hope and faith in him b4 the start of the season to pick him in my Dreamteam (Although he did stayt long). I was disappointed as were others that he just looked out of place. Woeful marking attempts. Shocking Disposal.

It is only in the last month that he has shown any sort of improvement. And it has been remarkable. His second contested mark yesterday, he was not going to mark, until the last second. He looked to be out positioned, but managed to come up with a good strong mark.

I was being realistic, not idealistic.

Rapt to make your Top of the Pops Anti-LRT list but as is usually the case on this emotive topic (for you at least), you're wrong.

My position has always been while he was improving & there was no obvious substitute he should be retained in the team. All power to the selection committee for holding their nerve - let's hope he continues to repay their faith in these next few critical weeks.

That contested mark he took in a pack with three Kangaroo forwards was gold.

He smothered two kicks from Urch when standing on the mark in the space of a minute, but that's probably more due to Urch making the errors than anything.

We should not discuss LRT's game with threads full of told-you-so and the like. It doesn't advance the plot, so to speak.

The thing to consider is: if we happen to win the premiership this year with LRT playing at CHB, would it matter if he had a good game in the Grand Final or not?

Yes - we seemed to lose quite a lot in defense at one stage and while looking for a reason scanned around and saw LRT on the bench. Thought "hope he's not injured".
