It's just a bit of harmless fun. Like pulling your opponent's leg hairs.

I was a LuRTch knocker for sure. But credit to the guy (and the coaching staff for ignoring all of the critics) for he has come along in leaps and bounds.

SOS or not, he deserves credit for his hard work, and if you combine the last two weeks, his performance has been close to spectacular. He has comprehensively beaten all opponents over that time, and even done the extra offensive things a good CHB should do.

My criticism has always been that his lack of demonstrated talent (not application mind you) meant that he would not amount to more than a defensive "wall".

With the added elements of strong marking and disposal, plus the faith his teammates are starting to show in him, he is becoming a key part of our defensive rebound. Now Tadgh can run off half-back, Leo has less pressure on him to stick like glue to his opponent, and it shows on the scoreboard. For this reason he is a critical part of our team. Do it right and we are awesome, do it wrong and we look flat-footed.

I was being realistic, not idealistic.
If was dropped earlier in the year it is very likely that:
        a) He wouldnt be playing so well today.
        b) We would have lost more games.

While LRT wasnt playing well, he was in general taking his opponent out of the game. But there was enough there to see if he got a bit of confidence and support he could improve.

At Hyphen's current rate of improvement, he should:

In R5 2006 - be as good as Dunkley
In R9 2006 - be as good as Fletcher
In R12 2006 - be as good as SOS

Having thus dominated and become the "Fullback of the Century" for the new millenium by the twelth round next year, Roos could look at starting him foreward. He therefore should:

In R15 2006 - be as good as Baz
In R17 2006 - be as good as Plugger
In R18 2006 - be as good as Ablett snr
In R21 2006 - be as good as Carey

That means come the finals next year we will have the best player in the history of VFL/AFL pulling on Red and white socks, even better than the widely acknowledged greatest player ever - W Capper. We will be an irresistable force with this already legend of a player. Just grow the blond glamour mullet and get a pair of white boots LRT. Your time has come.

Are you suggesting he peaks in R17 & starts going backwards again after that?

OMGBBQ LRT roxor teh big ONE111

I sat on the sidelines speachless on Sunday. I couldn't yell "GET A HAIRCUT" at LRT any more

I didn't want to yell "LOVE THE HAIRCUT" in case he thought I was being sarcastic.

He did make one mistake after those two spoils and the tackle which gave him a free kick, he started thinking hard again. The whole SCG was screaming at him.

Good game LRT, I feel like jumpping on the wagon, you did get a haircut after all

Wow, I went off to a meeting then lunch and I come back and my whole bloody inbox is full of "Reply to post Lrt" emails (so much for "you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the board again"). It's a grood thing I only referred to "some of our fellow RWOers" otherwise my PC might have exploded.

Indeed I'd like to make it absolutely clear that I wasn't singling anyone out and I wouldn't have referred to most of the people who responded to my observation as being intemporate little nuts, in any case. I reserve that for people who used words like talentless, hack, unco and possibly nuffie; or misspell profanity to escape the censor.

I agree completly with this, although I began to wonder after the Geelong game, so cograts to barry for sticking to his guns. And to Paul Roos & Peter Jonas for holding their nerve.

I'll admit I was calling for his head earlier this year (post Essendon game mostly), and I'll even more gladly admit that it's a good thing I'm not a coach. Deserves all the praise he gets, IMO.

Probably one of the few things you can't teach is reckless abandon at the ball, and LRT certainly has that in spades. Roosy must just love coaching a kid like him.

That was one of the low points (and when barry started hating me for my anti-LRT diatribes, which ironically was a high point! )
