    Tredrea

I saw Warren Tredrea being introduced to some official looking people wearing Swans ties before the game, he then followed them up to the Swans Corporate box to watch the game. Anyone have any clues to what this might be about?

Tredrea watched the game with Mark Williams, Tony McGuinness (Port's forward line coach) and another player (Damon White). The C9 commentators suggested that they were studying how we set up around Barry Hall.

There is absolutely no chance that a) we would try to get Tredrea, or b) that he would try to get to us. He's as Port as they come... and with Hall, O'Loughlin, Davis, O'Keefe and Goodes, we would be wasting money and some very, very good players.

Tony McGuinness, former Glenelg champion and Magarey medalist is now an assistant coach with the Port scum? I could cry into my lunch reading that.

I was wandering around at half time in the tunnel under the O'Reilly and spotted someone who was the spitting image of Mark Williams standing in line for a cup of coffee (for which he would have been waiting an age and which would have been lukewarm at best when he got it, such is the efficiency of that coffee cart).

I did a double take and stared a bit, before deciding it couldn't possibly be him and moving on.

When I got home and watched the TV broadcast and saw that Williams was indeed at the game, I realised my eyes hadn't been deceiving me. But I can't see that the players were guests of the Swans, or surely Williams wouldn't have had to queue for his own cup of overpriced and very ordinary coffee?

I wouldn't have thought so either, but I was adding what I saw with the first posters observations.

When I say "make yourself at home" I mean "make your own coffee". Maybe the Swans are the same?

Here's my take on speculation, what Port was doing at the game. Perhaps they believe they'll meet Kangaroos in the 1st week of the finals, which is quite possible if the Port finishes 8th and the Kangaroos 5th.

Plus they were in Brisbane the night before, so probably thought it would be nice just to drop in to sit in the beautiful Sydney sun for an afternoon on the way home.

I suspect that's what it was about.

That's a plausible theory, and I guess Tredrea being the acting captain he would be involved quite closely with tactics. But why would Damon White be there as well?

Probably correct. The group that was present does lend itself to the 'comparing forward set-ups' theory... but for all we know the entire travelling party for the Gabba game was sitting in various parts of the ground.
