We were being bagged recently about how low our scoring has been this year. But if you look at our disposals per point scored, we are one of the most efficient teams going around.

Funny isn't it. And there was the commentary team on the TV at the weekend saying we were the most skilled team in the comp!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Carlton are ranked 16th for the same stat...

And second in least opponent errors per game (despite being one of the supposedly better teams at applying pressure).

Same commentary team said that we usually kick it long.

Ranked 14th in Long Kicks Per Game!

These stats are the main worrying ones for finals.

Ranked 15th in Goals Per Game

Ranked 14th in Inside 50s Per Game

On the plus side is that we are higher than our opponents in both of those areas.

Another interesting stat is that our contested possessions are third, but we only just beat break even relative to our opponents.

I am very surprised we are ranked 1st in clearances.

Not bad for our 'blue collar midfield'

We've improved in both these areas over the last month so it shouldn't be a worry come finals time

6th in net clearances (ie: our own - our opponent's).

Does that errors stat rank teams from most errors to least, or least errors to most?

I remember when we were woeful in that department 2 years ago. We had Bally doing all the work with Goodesy and didn't have a clearence specialist on our list.

Now Kirky, Jude and Noggy are just about the best at slamming it on the boot fast...no fuss and no stuffing around.

When we played the Roos in Rd 2 I had never seen us pfaff about worse in the centre, always looking for the perfect handball to try and get clear. It all ended in tears with turnovers and errors costing us the game.

Snap clearances is definetly a conscious midfield tactic introduced during the year and as our forwards got better, the more damaging those clearances became.

Roosy has kept his mouth shut about this because if other teams agree that is where we're winning it, we will become the tagged.

In the past 7 games we have averaged 48.7 I50s per game - this would make us 12th instead of 14th.

In those games we have averaged 14.7 goals per game - this would make us 4th instead of 15th.

Our recent form is like 2003 - very high efficiency but not great at getting the ball I50 very frequently.

The stats seems to highlight a game plan where we lock down the ball into a lot of contested footy, which we break even on, but then are able to break away and find space and generate more unconstested football than our opponents.

This is possibly because our game plan is built around this so we can break away and set up opportunities (when we are playing well) or get stuck with a short chipping game (when we are playing badly).

                            We have the most.
We also have the worst differential of own errors against opponent's errors.

swans have got stats to reinforce how well they have been going this year. No 1 in errors is a concern though.
