ROK - All-Aus, this year or next?

I know this is a very very crowded team, but does anyone hold a faint flame that Pebbles could get on the bench of the AA team in 2005?

It's a long shot, but if the selectors are genuine, he has to be a consideration.

He will have a tough time making the team, particuarly with the selection panel's love for naming extra key forwards or midfielders on the flank/pocket. Off the top of my head I'd say straight away that at least Akermanis and Russell Robertson are ahead of him for a flank (2 flanks, 1 will probably go to a CHF so I'd expect one of these 2 bench).
I don't think he has been consistent enough this season and his start to the year wasn't exactly great.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

He's kicked 25 goals, Robertson 63 and I heard Healy et al say Robertson's merely a possible at this stage. Remember we're talking about the best 22 players in the game. ROK is still a fair way off that.

Spot on. IMHO it was around the split round that he really got back into form nearing his best. Until then, he wasn't playing terribly, but was well off what we knew he could produce.

Now if he can produce his current form through all of next year, AA is a possibility, but if he were to make it this year there would be something seriously wrong with the selection process.

I think to make the AA side, ROK needs to be a bit more damaging. IMO he is the player who regularly finds the most space, but a lot of the time he sprays the shot, or doesn't quite deliver properly. If he can score a regular 3.1 or 4.1 each game, and not his current 2.4 or so

He gets a lot of ball because he tends to end up with the 4th or 5th defender on him (after all, the opposition have to cover Davis, Hall, O'Loughlin etc), but he needs to convert those chances into more goals to have a shot at AA selection.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

In his position, he needs to score at least 40 goals and rack up 20 possies per game. Its because he is not a "flair" player like Aker or Milne that he struggles to get adequate recognition.

But then if he gets named AA, other teams take more notice

You reckon Leigh Matthews flagging him wasn't noticed by all! It was like the hand of god annointing him. (and not THAT "hand of god", Diego.)

Needs to score more goals than behinds before he rates anything above sub-standard.

If he played 20 games in a season like his past three he would come into discussions...but he still wouldn't be picked unless he had three BOGs as well...and scored at least 50 goals (which he would probably do if he had 20 games like his last three )

No. It's only the second half of the year that he's been confirmed in the Swans best 22 let alone the league's.

If the Swans were gonna have a smokie for the AA team it would be Craig Bolton. But because he doesn't get the hype outside of the club he will be left out.

                        Seriously good player.

at the start of the year he wasn't playing as well as he has for the last 3 weeks or so. The last three weeks is a good sign that he'll be in the team next year - hopefully

ROK played more consistant football last year I think. He has no chance this year, but if he as previously said play a few 4-5 goal games and generally good football he has the talent to make it.
