I serously think that people should just cool it...

The saints are not definatly out yet neither Melbourne nor Geelong or the Roos, any of these could rise from the ashes and dash our dreams in an instant.
Along with the two front runners from the west, these teams are still a real chance and we are still a long shot to win the flag because of this. Please don't forget that winning the flag is the only possible acceptable out come this year.
Also, please wait and see what happens in the first week of the finals before getting on board this train - Thank you.

    xx The conductor.

I've been on this Swans' Express since I was three and no matter what happens this year, next year or in 2055, I'll still be aboard.

However, we do seem closer to our destination this year than ever before!! Go Swannies!

I'm only 25 but have followed the bloods my whole life, if I've learnt anything over that time its that when it comes to following this team you have to enjoy the highs while they last. Like it or not we may not even see a swans premiership in our lifetime, my grandfather is 70 and has yet to witness one.

So what if people want to get carried away and talk about premierships, dreaming about it may be as close as we ever get.

1996 was a bit of a blur to me, I had my 2nd kid that year so got to only one game, didn't get the to the GF, but got to the Glasshouse after the game.

I am getting excited, but as the old cliche goes "one week at a time"

I was absolutely gutted that we lost the GF but going to the glasshouse after the game is one of my best swans memories. It really put everything into perspective for me, just a huge sea of red and white giving the players the credit they deserved for having come so far.

                      I'll second that.

I know there's still a lot of hard work to do, but really, it's been such a surreal kind of year, that was frustrating as hell to watch early on, but the way we've gone since that Saints game (which Tim Lane correctly predicted at the time would prove to be a watershed...just not in the sense we expected ) and the unbelievable amount of vitriol that seemed to be directed towards the team earlier on for the "ugly" style - I almost feel it just has to be our year now, whether it's just the "vibe" I'm not sure, but we have just gotten better and better as this year has progressed.

Anyway, I'm sure whatever happens in the finals, this season will certainly have been a memorable one in more ways than one - if more for the ride than anything else! (I nearly said "journey" but thought better of it)

Well, I don't know if we'll make it or not, but fans don't have to "cool it". Coaches and players maybe - but we don't!

I get the feeling that footyhead is one of the many posters on here that thinks he is a coach.

exactly. he is such a tosser. of course he's going to come on here and play the "Winning the GF is the only acceptable outcome" card. The odds are stacked against any side vying for a premiership. It's a hard outcome to achieve, and some may say even an ounce of luck is needed.

So a saints supporter coming on here and setting himself up for another shot at flogging a dead horse with his anti Paul Roos and anti Sydney Swans slogans is tedious at best.

He's probably sitting at home rubbing his hands together in anticipation of a non swans premiership. I'd wager he's even written his "I told u so" speech and is just waiting for the day he can cut and paste it (and believe you me, it will be a doozy to read like all his formulated diatribes of the past). Good on him if that's all his life evolves around. I just hope other people can see through this jerk's smoke and mirrors routine as well and not heed him.
An instrument with only 9 notes! Surely it's easy to play?

you seem to be doing an excelent job at achieving what y ou are preaching. NOT.

Anyway my only motive as I have stated many times before is for the Swans to win a premiership, so that Sydney as a city can finaly embrace Aussie rules as a part of its culture instead of being so cynical for fear that they may be buying a trojan horse.

Unfortunatly it will take at least one premiership to do this, though probably at least two within a five year period. Depending on the dormant passion that could be ignited from the hearts of the Sydney media and public left over from twenty years of exsistance in sydney, numerous finals appearances and of course ninty six.

But be assured it will take a premiership to do this. Sydney only likes a sure thing...
