I don't believe 50 games is worth putting on a banner. Many players who reach that milestone don't go on to reach 100. If we had joint milestones then it would be OK.
If 50 games is not worth putting on a banner, what do we put in its place?

I think Aaron Henneman had his 50th noted on the Bombers banner when we played Essendon this year. He probably deserved some recognition cause it's highly unlikely he'll get any further!

I thought it was just to save them coming up with a witty saying, for a week.

yes, given what you hear the Bombers say about Henneman, I'm surprised it wasn't along the lines of "Congrats Aaron! Now, have you considered your career options?"
we've had players in the past celebrate their 50th with a banner mention.
Remember the debacle a couple of years ago with Tadhg not getting to run through the banner noting his 50th game as the winds at the MCG were so strong they didn't raise the banners at all and only had a guard of honour (for want of a better phrase) of flags to run through.
Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release
We need
Love and peace
How about building it into the witty saying for the week;
50 games is really great
But another win
Is a better cause to celebrate

Did the heavens collapse, mountains split apart and oceans boil because there wasn't a banner to run through...?

Ah - that game. So that's why we need to keep the banners!!

I think it's a great achievement, but don't think his milestone should neccessarily be on a banner.
It'll go out on the team list tonight, so those who think of themselves as journos (such as TM! ) will have something to add to their stories come the weekend.
But nonetheless, congrats Nog!
