    How can we beat C'wood?

It'll be difficult, but not impossible.
    1. Play the psychological game. Collingwood coming off two losses you'd expect will be fired up, and Swans should try and counter it. I think Roos and the players should talk down our chances (in public) as often as possible eg we'll be happy to get within 6 goals of a champion team like Collingwood, etc etc. I think a few of the C'wood boys are arrogant enough to fall for it and get a little complacent.

    2. Every member of the team, all over the park, has got to put in 100% effort: run hard, pressure, tackle, block, shepherd, dive for the loose ball. We have to prepare ourselves for a real dog-fight. Forget any illusions about playing with fancy skill and attacking flair - because the Pies play a high work-rate pressure game and as we've seen in the past, when the pressure's on our skills quickly go out the window.

    3. Jason Ball to dominate the ruck - this is the Pies biggest weakness. Now all we have to do is take advantage of the glut of possession.

    4. BBB's due a big one! But even if he doesn't produce a swag of goals he can prove a great decoy. The goal-kicking form of O'Loughlin, Schneider and Davis last week means that we don't have to rely on Bazza, and as long as the opposition crowds defenders on him it gives a bit of extra space for the other three.

The biggest threat to our hopes is the way the Collingwood forwards lead and mark. Watching Hawthorn's forwards and David Neitz make our defenders look clueless with their leading is a real worry for this game. Hopefully Roos and the coaching team can come up with some ideas from watching how the Essendon defence (which was without key players though still very strong) kept Tarrant, Rocca, Williams and Didak quiet.

So there you go: the Swans do all the above, and we win by two goals. How's that for fearless optimism?!

Easy the best way to beat Collingwood is to out score them. Thats what we should set out to do, nothing fancy - just plain old footy. If we do the normal things right we are in with a shot, try and over do it and we are ****ed

Cresswell on buckley - he took buckley right out of the last game between the two sides and it almost pushed us over the line. Or maybe kirk. But tag buckely or try to. He was a one man show last week against the bombers with 37 possessions.

It all comes down to the midfields. As is coming a regular occurance with our games, our forward line is to powerful for the oppostions and vice a versa.

        Simple I thought.

Get Brisbane to turn up on the night wearing Swans jumpers.

Otherwise not much chance. Is Des going?

Collingwood are vunerable. They played on self beleif last year, and now they are being questioned.

But saying that, they are still a couple of places higher on the ladder team than us, and its their home ground.

All Sydney need do is play like they did against Carlton, and the last quarter against Melbourne and we will win comfortably.
Cripes, we could beat Brisbane if we always played like that.

i think that if we played brizzy on sat night instead of melb that they woulda made us pay by 3/4 time so that a 10 goal last quarter wouldnt have helped at all

so minus the last quarter from the last round and replace the first quarter of the carlton game and we would win against brizzy

I somehow doubt we'll get very close at all. Last week was the best time to play them - this week they'll presumably drop a couple of the out-of-form guys they've been carrying (eg. Davis) and replace them with others with good VFL form.

As I see it the only real chance of winning is by shaking things up and making Collingwood uncomfortable.

There's only 3 players they're going to focus on - Hall, Davis and Williams.

They'll double and triple team Hall if he plays from FF, so we have to either use him as a decoy or play him at CHF. The latter is the more realistic option, especially if Prestigiacomo plays on him.

No doubt they'll be trying to keep Davis very quiet, so maybe he has to take one for the team and be totally used as a decoy - just take defenders wide and not be used unless Collingwood get wise and peel off him.

Maybe Williams can play on Didak - has the speed to go with him and could be really damaging going the other way on a lazy player.

Licuria and Burns love the challenge of playing on top players - a midfield of Bolton, Crouch, Mathews, Fosdike etc might put them off a bit. Bit of a risk though.

I'd possibly try Maxfield on Buckley - both have been playing in a similar way going deep into defence as well as racking up plenty of 'inside 50s'. For lack of another match-up, and b/c they'll probably want Maxfield on Woewodin, Cresswell will most likely get the job anyway.

Ball, Goodes, O'Loughlin and Kennelly will need to have very good games for us to have any real chance.

Last time Cresswell played on Buckley and did well so don't do that again.

Our only advantage is that we will be quicker (wish Fixter was playing). They will be stronger - the important player for them against us is Burns - killed us last time.

Collingwood's problem is lack of class/ skill and not many quality goalkickers - last game Saddington tired on Tarrant.

They may struggle to kick goals - forward line still has players like Leon Davis and Molloy in it.

But to beat them we would need to have a better side in Seymour etc.

                  We won't be strong enough.

The key is Goodes, the haven't got anybody to run with him.

Stunning Steve Mckee will probably take Ball if he goes forward.

I'd definitley have BBBH at CHF.

Burns, Buckley, Licuria & Woey up against

                    Cressa, Willo, Fozzie & Jude

Who will Kirk and Crouch take

Maybe Didak & Davis (if he plays)

Our problems will be Tarrant & Rocca

Tarrant is the leading mark taker in the comp and we don't have Dunks anymore who could always beat either Rocca or Molloy

I'd like to think its winnable. but seeing them come from two losses makes us look less likely to be victorious imo.

If they win, it'll be due to their midfield versus ours mainly. Even with Ball/Goodes in the ruck, their use of the ball from centre clearances is usually more decisive than ours atm.

Without a doubt, they'll double-team Hall at FF, so our boys like Schneider, Davis, and Magic (as well as others) will need to turn it on again for us if we want to to beat them.

Their forward structure will probably give our defense ulcers, and I'm tipping they'll play Molloy on Baz (with Wakelin out)-going out on a limb here, I see Baz getting reported if this is the case.

As always, I hope to be wrong.

There was actually article in yesterdays League paper (Telegraph) where Roos said he wanted Hall to play at CHF at create a few things. I love seeing him get the ball around the 50 and push a couple of defenders over before off loading to a goal or teammate
