Do we really need another thread on this topic??

The names that get thrown up are so predictable.

I hope Fosdike kicks 3 in the GF to silence his critics on here.

How about instead of using this thread to talk about trade topics we use it for draft discussion?? We are more likely to use the draft to fill any needs so lets start there.

I think we MUST use this draft to stock up on some K/P players. In particular a Centre Half Back over 192cm, a Full Back and a Centre Half Forward to become in time a back up to Barry Hall.

I agree Matthew Spangher does seem like a good option for our first round pick going by "early" judgements (trust me, there is plenty of movement to come). 193cm tall and 84kg make him a good option at CHB.

For the other 2 picks we'll make to early to say, but no doubt we'll hear alot on the topic and I'll even produce my usual phantom draft.
        Once was, now elsewhere

We have to draft tall no matter what this year. Our depth in our talls is seriously poor.

Can you have a depth in talls? How about "we're short of talls"?

From what I've heard this years pool of draftees is supposed to be one of the best ever so I wouldn't be opposed to trading away a couple of passengers but only for draft picks.

I've heard the complete opposite. The first 10 picks or so are pretty good but falls away quickly. The next year's batch are meant to be good though.

Heard that also but I think they said a much more even bunch and a pick at 20 could be a gem without surprising.

That is the same old line every year.

Listening to radio this week it seems every team will be looking for a "boutique player", if one exists. By that they mean a ready made top player or up and coming player prepared to move. If there is one they will be all over him like a rash.

We have a good batch in the 2's I am led to believe, so it may be a case of rookie promotions, draft a few and top up the rookie list again with likely lads.

I doubt they will want to trade too many established players. Don't hear of any disgruntled Melbourne boys wanting to go home. Why should they. They are playing in a good side and performing well. eg Ablett, O"Keefe.
