After going through the Daily Telegraph web site I've noticed they published an article about LRT and a big picture of him. Unfortunately the article is not available from their web site. Does anybody know what the article was all about?

One of the reasons I like Sydney and their suporters. They afford cult hero status to not only the stars but to the lesser lights who while not being champions have their own persona/likeable characteristics. In WA and I suspect the same is true in Vic all you hear about are the absolute stars - i.e the Cables (Barry) , Farmers (Polly), Todd (John), Walker (Bill) in Vic Matthews, Hird, Jeusalenko, Whitten, Skilton etc. as though they are the only people that played the game. It is a team game and it takes all the players collectively to give the opportunity for those stars to shine. Thus give credit where it is due - spread it around! There are lots of great players that unfortunately are not given the kudos they deserve.
Often I have seen criticiscm of Sydney supporters esp. in Vic and WA forums where they patronisingly say that the Sydney people are "still only learnibg how the game works". In respect of acknowledging the anti-heroes they (the Sydney people) are in my opinion , miles and refreshingly ahead of the rest.
So good onya LRT, Luffy, Cresswell, Kirk who are great players but will be ignored when discussion turns to such crap concepts as the Hall of Fame.Comment

I don't mind if LRT is a cult hero or not, I just want him to do his job and get better at it.
I see signs of SOS and Roosy in him.
Speaking of which, with a little guidance, some hours of video footage, could we turn Demps into the next Paul Roos? I reckon Demps has the same dimensions, speed and skill, just needs the confidence and work ethic and he is "Roooooos".The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of DisappointmentComment

LRT-the new Luffy!
Nolie has hit things on the head with his intuitive post. As opposed to just the boring hero worship of guys like Barry Hall and Adam Goodes, the real heros to the Swans fans are players who have been battlers, who have struggled, but who have finally made it despite insummountable odds! Luffy was one, Saddington in some circles was another, now LRT has assumed the mantle of CULT HERO!
I don't know whether it is because he looks so unco out there. I don't know whether it is his Van der Graaf machine haircut. I don't know because he looks like the only surfer dude to never actualy be able to stand up on a surfboard property!
But Nolie is true, LRT is the TRUE cult figure! He is the new "God's gift to football!
As the song goes
"Suuuuuuper Super Lew
Suuuper Super Lew
Suuuuper Super Lew
Lewis Roberts Thompson"

You know you've made it when you have your own song.
And now our very own Lew Bob Tom has his own song!
He must be as proud as punch!
And you're spot on there, Nolie. I love the anti-hero/the underdog/the roughie. And I do have as many discussions about the likes of Dempster, LRT, Voges and Kirk as I do about Hall, Goodes and Molly. In fact, I would probably have more.
There's something so encouraging about this so called 'blue collar' team: you don't have to have a team full of 'names' like the Wiggles. We can have a team of Boltons, Kirks, Buchanans and O'Keefes and it works.
I have a lot of time for these so called 'no namers' -- they are the foundation of the team. And they are worth discussing as there's much more to a team than simply flashy goalkickers. It also appears as though people on RWO know this. And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.Comment
