We should've sacked Roos, delisted Micky O and traded Bazza when we lost a few games early in the season!

Naming Baz captain only this week is a stuff up I think.
He's gone from just a player in a non-publicity town, to captain of an finals club spending 3 days in the lead up to a big final in AFL heartland. His week would have been disrupted a lot.

Should have chosen a captain weeks ago, and let him settle in.

So when you agree with him he's the guy who knows his stuff and when you don't 'he can't make hard decisions'. Nice one...

When you make stupid allegations against one of us, why dont you back them up with some facts, quotes, or anything resembling a base for a change ?

Wardy I like your comment re Brisbane in 2003 - where they had to play all games and won.
Sounds a good omen for us.

Who's to say that anyone would have played any differently had their been a different captain.

To some extent I think that onfield performance is an overrated aspect of captaincy. Yes, you need one of your better players who can hopefully inspire the rest of the team. But anyone of Goodes, Kirk or Baz would fit that bill (as would Leo, and maybe Jude too).

It's the stuff around the club, stuff that we don't see, that matters more I reckon.

As I mentioned on another thread, I was very impressed with Baz' comments in his interview this morning - he conducted himself (and the club) with grace and dignity.

My initial vote was for Goodes, and I'm not sure that this has really changed - but certainly I'd be more than happy with any of the three 'leaders'.

Flip a coin between Jude and Kirk. I agree with the comments about the Captain being in the midfield posted earlier. We have two very courageous, hard, team men who would lead the side exceptionally well. IMHO. I have a sentimental attachment to Kirk as I was at his first game against North Melbourne.

I love Baz and am not saying he should not be Captain, I just think the other two would be a better option.

                    LMAO. What about:

Roos is unable to make the hard decisions.

Well at least we have given him ample opportunity to prove himself!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I've said all along that Kirky should have been captain, Hall was shocking on friday night. The one positive is that when he plays badly he usually comes out and has a blinder the next week so watch out Geelong! Kirk was absolutley amazing against the eagles, the guy doesn't know how to miss a target, I've never seen anyone dispose of the ball so well under so much pressure.

I had that strange feeling that Hally was more focusing on being a captain instead of doing what he does best, and that is kicking goals. So, Hally my advice to you for this Friday: be yourself and kick a bag of goals!

Yeah Barry had a shocker and who knows whether we would have won under a different captain.
I personally don't think he's the best choice but it's got nothing to do with the guy's leadership, but a bit to do with the fact he's a key forward.

                              1) The umpires are currently doing all they can to assist spoilers. So like it or not his ability to play well can be curtailed to some extent by the 'rainbow coalition' (thats 'white maggots' to traditionalists) not a good situation for a captain.
                              2) As a forward a lot of his effectiveness depends on the supply he gets.
                              3) He can play either FF or CHF but that's it. So if he has a dog day you can't play him in the midfield of off half back to ignite his game.

He was murdered by the umpires early, and his confidence eroded by the slippery conditions.

He still kicked two important goals, and was almost the game breaker in the dying two minutes. If he had taken just one of those marks (or the umpires bothered to pay the illegal shepards and holding on each attempt) then he would currently be rated as the best captain ever

IMO, the Captain's role is so much more important than just during the game. I thought he handled the loss extremely well, and has already set the tone for their preparation this week. There was no whinging or hint of disappointment, just a positive focus on this Friday.

Shouldn't we wait until the season is finished for us before judging him?
