    10 Coverage this Sat. nite

    I'm confused

ATV10 Melbourne 7:30:00 PM Collingwood v SydneyMatchDelayed coverage from Telstra Dome

TEN10 Sydney 7:30:00 PM Collingwood v SydneyMatchLive coverage from Telstra Dome

Both on at the same time but one is live and the other is delayed!!!!!!!

Assuming this is a @@@@-up, and the game is listed to start at 7.10, is it so hard for ten to put this on live, why the 30 min. delay????
Same thing happened with the Hawks game, I thought we were getting it live until I checked the times a bit more carefully.

They probably assume that Sydney people are too ignorant to know when it actually starts, so they can advertise 7.30 as "live". And I guess it is, relative to the midnight showings we get of most (non-Swans) games, or even the 10.30ish we've been given in the past.

I'm certainly not complaining about a 7.30 start, so long as we don't get a newsbreak at 3/4 time that tells us the result!

Has that happened before lizz? If so that is disgraceful, you would never ever get anything like that in Melbourne

Why doesn?t the AFL just change the starting time of the game to 7:40? The Swans have previously had to change their staring times (often at short notice) to accommodate the needs of the broadcaster.

I've not seen exactly that happen - but I have switched on to watch delayed games only to find the news is running late and they're still on the sports section, telling you the result of a game you're about to sit down and watch.

The one time I got really mad was a couple of years ago when C7 were still showing it. The Swans played on a Saturday night but there was some other major sporting event on overnight - I think it was cricket, except that don't C9 have the cricket? - which meant that the Swans game was being shown the next morning. I went out for the evening, avoiding any source of the result of the game, came home and settled down to watch the cricket, being careful to turn on late enough that I would definitely miss any sports news.

Had been watching for a short while when the stoopid commentators came out with something like "Welcome to our Melbourne viewers who have just joined us. Hope you enjoyed our coverage of Richmond's victory over the Swans"!!!!

When watching us play in delayed telecasts I like knowing the result. Then I can concentrate on the game and what is happening, rather than screaming and throwing things!!

I like to do both. First I like to watch the game as if it is live, but i always tape them and if we do okay I'll then watch it again (often several times!) and actually look to see what was going on.

Channel Eddie ALWAYS does that!!! The news bulletin just before the delayed broadcast always gives the result of the game.

I assume Melb based NRL fans (are there any of those?) have the same problem.

I don't always get time for that. Plus it's also bad for my blood pressure...

                    Two words: Big Brother

I'm happy with 7:30 - that's close enough to live for me.

The 7:10 start is probably so the kiddies can get home a bit earlier. Might be for public transport reasons also.

                    [Edit: fixed typos]

Yep its the same here. Problem is if we put it on another channel we still get the result.

Now that's an oxymoron! I'll be at a party and will miss the game

If it is 20 mins delayed, theyw ill probably catch up by the 3rd quarter if they don't fill all halftime with ads and commentary
