      Mark Powell

      from sydneyswans.com.au :
      MARK POWELL
      Guernsey Number: 29
      Height 190cm
      Weight: 76kg
      Recruited From: Lavington (NSW)/Murray U18
      Debut: -
Date of Birth: 15 March 1984

      ABOUT
The Swans' first selection in the 2001 AFL National Draft had his first development season in the VFL hindered by a groin injury at the start and a hamstring problem at the end that, in total, cost him eight games on the sidelines. The strapping teenager with strong hands will, in time, fill out to become a key position prospect.

      and....

      from RWO:
      MARK POWELL
      Guernsey No. - 29
      Date Of Birth - 15/3/84
      Height - 192 cm
      Weight - 81 kg
      Career Games - 0
      Career Goals - 0
Recruited From - Lavington (NSW), Murray U18

Mark Powell from Lavington, NSW, was Sydney's first choice (No. 28 overall) in the 2001 AFL National Draft. Mark hails from the Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup team where he played mainly as a tall defender, but had to overcome shoulder injuries and a broken jaw in 2001 that hindered his progress. Most of his junior career was spent as a key forward.

In 2001, Mark represented NSW/ACT at the National Under 18 Championships and was part of the AIS/AFL Academy squad. He had also won a spot in the U-17 team that played against Ireland.

Powell is a lightly built youngster, a good athlete with excellent pace and mobility who can take a strong mark. He made little impact at the club during 2002, with the occasional strong performance for Port Melbourne, but picking up a hamstring injury late in the season.

However, Mark will have only just turned 19 at the start of the 2003 season, and presumably still has another couple of years to break into the big time.
On the 72nd yr the city of Sydney will rejoice in Premiership Glory.

Powell into the 22? Well done, son and good luck!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

i find it weird that theyre playing burns off the bench...
we have a stack more height on our bench, powell and warfe rotate with whoever is struggling down back or otherwise go in as loose man as well as meiklejohn

one on one we arent that far short (talent wise) IMO

I though it would be this team, this afternoon

Powell for Nicks(injured) - good call give us height down back.

              Coupla surprises

Warfe gets another week (amazing hope he plays well though)

L Davis dropped - I think he's a dud but imagine this week would have been one to play him

Kinnear vs Goodes IIRC Goodes played on him on the MCG took 11 or 12 marks - way to slow for AFL.

Why do they start S Burns on the bench?

Trust me the side which is named won't be the side that lines up.

Well another debutant - Someone mentioned that we have a 100% winning record this year when a player debuts in the "real" games. Hope it is an omen!

                      Powell for Nicks(injured)
What happened to Nicks? I didn't notice anything during the game. Is this why his form has been so mediocre?

i seriously think we mightve seen the last of warfe now *big grin* i did like him back in the day but he has turned to a hack and if he can go back to the reserves and get his confidence up and learn how to kick i will be all for him being back in the side HOWEVER he only played 12 minutes and still managed to lose his feet at a critical moment and screw everything up, see ya warfey

mind u, i do feel sorry for the fella... i hated caracella for years for taking that screamer over warfe and dislocating his shoulder
