Hardest Game one week early.

The St.Kilda game is by far going to be the most difficult (based on previous experiences and form).

If we win that then we should go into the grannie as favourites so I would think that the prelim can be a huge step to climb and boost the momentum to a point of no return. The eagles or crows would feel nervous on the g (adelaide with loss earlier, eagles against playing swans)

Remember, we are a good team.

We have to beat Geelong first. After their game against Melbourne yesterday, they will not be a mere speed bump on the road to the Grand Final. They represent a real obstacle that has to be overcome.

Ignore our 9-goal win earlier this year. History means nothing because both sides will start the semi-final 0-0 on the scoreboard.

Sydney's season is over. St Kilda, at the G, near full - strength is unbeatable. Not just for us, but for any team. Their list, the result of years of tanking and picking up the best talent in the country is superior to any other team by miles. Last night's result was the worst possible one for Sydney. Combining it with Friday's result makes it impossible. What a wasted year in which we didn't take our chances. We probably won't have such a good run with injuries again as well. Finally, St Kilda has had more free kicks than any other team this year so we are already doomed before we even play (that's if we even get there).

Not until we lose another final or win the Big One. Anything can happen in a final. While I don't expect us to win against the Saints, I didn't expect us to win against Port in 2003 either.

if we do beat geelong all the pressure will be on the saints and the weight of victoria on their shoulders. we seem to play pretty well with our backs to the wall and anything is possible in the finals.

no one gave the blues a chance in the 99 prelim

should be interesting to see how the boys respond this week. hopefully it'll fire them up and make them even more hungrier but i just hope it doesnt go the other way.

I don't understand this line of thinking. To win the premiership we have to beat the likes of St Kilda on the MCG anyway. How can the season be gone just because we play them in the prelim at the MCG. To win the premiership we need to beat these teams anyway...BRING THEM ON (and Geelong first!)

I agree with Anne too, St.Kilda at full strength is the most dangerous side to counter. Had they lost last night they would have had to go to Perth. The only question mark for them is playing too many blokes underdone. I think Friday night's loss was a mortal blow. LRT, the umpires, MOL, Kennelly and the other suspects will have to live with this.

Yes, St Kilda are a dangerous side. BUT I want to win the premiership by Sydney being the 'most dangerous' side and to do that we must beat the Saints at the MCG on prelim day and simply not on the GF day. There will be another team to counter there.

We are a huge chance against the Saints if we could overcome Geelong with some level of ease.

The Saints would surely try to bring back Kosi, Hudghton, and McGuire. These men would be underdone. This would be the best try for anyteam to win against the Saints.

If they overcome us with some game time for those underdone players, they would be very hard to beat in the grandee.

As long as we win against the Cats and our troops could freshup a bit and with no injury, I am quietly confident with our chance against the Saints.

Dare they to put an underdone Hudghton up against Hall. If not Hudghton, what other option do they have? We might want to remember that Hall is worth about 26% of our attacking power statistically.

Sorry, but I'm not changing my mind about our chances in PF, if they get there. As I said in my other thread: Let's take 1 week at the time!

Christ, I don't know why half you whingers even bother.

Look at the facts:
1. We came to within 4 points of WC: a team that has lost 1 in 22 games at home. We would have won were it not for appauling umpiring. Thats FACT.

2. Adelaide had won 10 games in a row (club record). The last of which was an away battle for top spot. Point is: they were due for a loss.

3.St. Kilda, despite how much the frigging Melbourne media want to talk them up are NOT convincing. They flogged a tired, injury-ridden, ageing Brisbane at home. Then played a buggered Adelaide in rat shi-ite conditions. Gehrig couldn't get a touch. Were it not for Harvey, they would have crumbled.

4.The Swans are angry. Despite what they may be saying publicly, that loss in Perth HURT. Bazza had a dog of a match and I can guarantee he'll kick a bag against Geelong.

We'll make the prelim. Don't worry about that. This is finals. Anything can and WILL happen. St.Kilda won't be looking forward to playing us. That's a given. Roosey is too smart and our list too tasty to let the Saints make fools of us like they did earlier this year.

Atleast St Kilda won't have much of a home ground advantage considering probably around 1/3 of the crowd will be swans.
