SCG Ticketing Disgrace

For those of you who are perhaps a little disgruntled about what seats you managed to get hold of this morning, you will be pleased to know I have been advised by Ticketek that SCG venue management decided that the O'Reilly and Churchill premium tickets would be held for Geelong members.

Now I have been a member for over 10 years and I sit up in the Churchill Top Deck for home and away games, and I am assuming most O'reilly members are long term supporters as well.

Whilst I am happy to cop seats in the Brewongle top deck, I am mighty annoyed that away supporters got dibbs on two of the most favourable places in the ground to watch footy at.

There is no way that this would happen in Perth or Adelaide, would it?

I believe any anger should be directed at the SCG Trust, but I think the club needs to address this as well.

I would have thought that the Brewongle would be more of a favoured position to watch the footy from, assuming you like to watch from centre-wing.

I'm normally in the O'Reilly, but accepted Churchill stand seats (after 70 minutes trying to get through on the phone, was in no mood to negotiate). One nice thing about finals is the chance to check out the ground from a different angle to the one I'm used to!

I have no problems with opposition fans being allocated a section for their members, but I WILL be quite upset and annoyed if it turns out that they are witholding good seats until Tuesday arvo when they go on sale to the public!

Well we got ours this morning after a reasonable wait (20min). Still only able to get Row T in the Brewongle at 9.25am though!

Whats the point of reserving ANY seats. What a stupid decision. Just sell them on a first-come-first-served basis around the ground!! Surely noone could argue that as unfair?

EDIT: Oh and they weren't checking members badges at the place where we got our tickets either. Anyone could rock up off the street and get as many as they wanted. And I'm not going to tell that to any non-members because its already unfair on all of the loyal members out there still fighting to get a seat.

Well I got seats in the Churchill in the middle of the Geelong members area. Weird hey.

I got a ticket in Bay 33 (right next to the Interchange bench) so almost near where I usually sit (which is in the Members Reserve).

Of course after waiting almost 3 hours for the ticket I am happy to be sitting down right now.

Posted this in another thread but will repeat again here. This is what I found from my seller @ Star City :

"Small queue at Star City this morning, got tickets @ 9.10 in O'Reilly. Although they clearly stated one ticket/member ticket, as usual they weren't checking so closely. I saw several people picking up multiple tickets.

They have reserved Bays/Sections (?) 1&2 in O'Reilly for Geelong (not the whole stand) and the girl was complaining that the "system" wasn't allowing her to see available indiv. seats in O'Reilly, it was just "pick a bay and see what comes up". Explains why some of you might've had trouble there."

I think those two Bays/Sections are the northern most ones in the O'Reilly.

I have two tickets Brewongle row T, seats 86-87 if anyone would like to swap for two in the Churchill top deck.

Close to the isle would be preferable if anyone has an interest as my old man is a bit wobbly and if he gets too excited I may need a quick exit!

I don't normally mind the Brewongle but Dad prefers the view down the ground.

Does anyone know what tickets will be available to us "Non-Loyal" Swans fans that get to as many games as possible but can't afford to buy a membership each year?

I'm sorry but calling those of us that cannot afford a membership "Non-loyal" is disgusting. Not everyone has the sort of money required to be able to be a member, And to those of you whinging that you cant sit in your usual seat, Get over it , this is nothing new, this is always the case at Swans Finals, and I am sure it is the case interstate as well.

Bad wording from schneiderman perhaps.. I intepreted the comment as referring to people who aren't regular match-goers, who want to come along to "the big games".

I had planned on bringing a large group of friends with me to the game - they don't all go to many games, but they have an interest in the Swans' performances, and watch most of the away games on TV with me at our house (as we have the biggest screen for watching matches!!). But since it is at the SCG, I'll have to deal with just getting as many tickets as I have memberships (might have one or two tickets leftover to bring a couple of "extras", but they will be going to footy people, not theatregoers)

All depends on what tickets are left un-sold as of 11am tomorrow. From there its just pot luck where and at what price you'll get. That's the pitfall of not buying a membership for whatever reason.

Agreed, everyone has their reasons for not buying a membership but not buying one doesn't make you any less loyal a supporter than those who do. Just that when it comes to finals time, your not in a position to complain about not getting a ticket if the game sells out before public sales begin.

Yep its the case right away Australia come finals time, that members don't get access to their normal reserved seats and the Swans and AFL did warn member repeatedly via mail, e-mail and the club magazine that come finals time you WON'T have access to your normal seat because its the AFL who control the layout of tickets sales, not the Swans.

this would explain why we got the seats we did. tried for our bay and got it, but not the seats we usually have. Best available at that point were row Y in Bay 29. Can't complain, at least we got seats. Or people at Wynyard were checking for memberships.

I would be very surprised if there was more than 6,000 tickets left for sale for the general public come Wednesday morning at 11.

One factor in your favour (and the teams) is that the game is Friday night which probably cost a couple of thousand Geelong supporters the chance to get up for the game.
