Big business flocks to Swans

QBE, which recently re-signed for three years from 2006-08, will continue to pay around $2million annually for its sponsorship package.

Citibank, which becomes a premier partner, is believed to have committed to pay $900,000 annually for the next three years.

THE Sydney Swans have the most valuable jumper in the AFL after negotiating corporate sponsorships worth $3million a season on the eve of their home final against Geelong.

While Collingwood boast a jumper worth an estimated $2.5million annually, most Victorian clubs fail to generate $1million from their jumper.

Be fair. The sponsorship is old. BUT Its only just been announced that it was decided to replace the QBE logo on the guernsey with the Citibank one.

The Citibank name will appear on the Sydney jumper in tomorrow night's final against Geelong, which will be a massive television event.

EDIT: Hope my kids dont notice and make me go out and get new replica guernseys for them

And I certainly didn't know that the Swans' guernsey was the most valuable real estate in the AFL.

Errrm, unless the QBE logo on the front is being replaced, this too is old news. Go back and watch the game from last Friday night and see what is on the back of the Swans guernseys (apart from their number and SMFC).

I reckon this is probably the reason that the AFL does not want us to win a premiership and do everything in their power to make it so.

I got the feeling that it is in the interest of the AFL for us to be competitive but it is not in the interest of the AFL for us to dominate.

Given our enormous potential, once we got on top it is very likely that we will stay there for a while. I dont think that is something that the AFL is comfortable with.

I was suspicious of AFL all along. They'll do anything to make sure that non-victorian teams don't dominate too much, because it hurts AFL support in Melbourne.
