    Umpires

    Umpiring was good I thought.

Goldspink helped us by blowing time on at that last bounce when he did not have to if he did not want to!

Yeah good rebound from last week. Not really any decision that turned a game or resulted in a goal.

While I do say this with one red-and-white eye, I didn't see anything untoward with the umpiring. I think they did a decent job. We probably finished behind on the free kick count again, but I didn't really have cause to dispute any of them.

I thought umpiring was crappy early. Okay later.

A definite improvement on the farce last week, even Goldspink seemed reasonably competent

I had a "here we go again" vibe in the first quarter.
It wasn't the worst I've seen, but I really don't believe we get a fair go on 50/50 decisions.
Has any Swan ever reveived a free kick for "chopping the arms"?
It seems to me that that rule only applies to Leo Barry.

But not if he is attempting to mark

The call on Crouch looked pretty poor. Stepped in front of the man but made no contact.

Didn't look like a trip to me either....

Some missed calls early - the most obvious deliberate OOB of the year, high contact on LRT, Kirk tackled when not in possession etc etc, some inconsistent calls between umpires and then they swallowed the whistle.

Will assume point 2 was tongue in cheek...

The call on Crocuh was there....moved into position to stop Johnson's run at the ball without looking even slightly like he would contest the ball himself.

That's because the dill keeps doing it. Other smarter defenders have woken up after 22 rounds that it is a rule. Not our boy Leo though. And he looks so hard done by when he gets pinged.

Can't you shepherd if the ball is within 5m?!? The ball arrived milliseconds after the contact.

Seemed like the ump was saying Crouch's only intention was to impede Johnson's run at the ball rather than contest with him and thus allow a 3rd man up to take the mark.

One got paid against Goodes in the second that was unbelievable.

Agree with nmw was terrible in the first half.

Must have seen the irony in Kirks "trip" against the Cats player. Cost a goal.

Crouch's sheperd against a Cats player. They never get paid anywhere else on the ground. Scarlett can hold Hall out of a marking contest and that's not a sheperd. Cost a goal.

I was apopletctic in the last quarter. Scarlett all over Hall. No frees. Will there be a day when we get a free in the F50. Ever????

A poor decision IMHO since Jolly marked the ball.
