SYDNEY extended their unlikely AFL domination over Collingwood with a 20-point victory tonight that plunged the Magpies into a mini crisis.
The victory means the Magpies have now lost three straight games and coach Mick Malthouse - having fruitlessly dipped into the reserves for options this week - must now search for another solution.
Sydney eked out a three-goal break by half-time and extended that to 46 points early in the final term, with a belting in the offing.
But after a long delay when unconscious Magpie Andrew Williams was stretchered off, the home side mounted a withering comeback as Sydney went on to the back foot.
Collingwood full-forward Chris Tarrant set up one goal and then kicked three himself in the space of 15 minutes to bring the Magpies back within 16 points entering time-on.
But as if scripted, it was Nick Davis - the man who walked out on Collingwood in acrimony at the end of last year - who kicked the sealing goal after marking an errant defensive clearance.
Davis turned to the Magpies crowd pumping his fist in elation as the home fans slunk to the exits.
The Swans have now won nine of the past 11 against the Magpies and could thank a return to form by forward Michael O'Loughlin for the win.
O'Loughlin was instrumental in giving the Swans a decisive buffer, kicking three goals himself and setting up several others despite appearing to strain his groin in the first term.
Barry Hall kicked two goals in a far more threatening Sydney forward line but also appeared troubled by an injury to the rear of his leg that sent him to the bench twice.
The Magpies were best served by captain Nathan Buckley who continued his stellar season and his fellow ball-gatherer Paul Licuria.
