    Goodes

Struggling big time. I agree with Blighty, get him in the ruck and get him into the game. I don't think we can beat the Saints without him playing well. What is the answer, becasue at the moment he is awful.

With Ling tagging him, he should been shifted into a key position - ruck or forward. For example in the goal square and let Hall play more up at CHF to get them both into the game. Didn't seem to be much coaching input there.

He's probably going to be tagged by Blake this week who has a good record against Goodes. Goodes has to pull his finger out of his arse and be the great player we know he can be.

So that's where his glove has gone? I thought he'd lent it to Crouchy. But, Adam - put the glove back on.

his confidence must be down at the moment - how did he drop that mark near the end on the wing?

I was left with that impression for quite a few things in the game.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

He had three clangers in the period Davis kicked four.

Think people are being way too hard on him. Great nous from Bomber to match him with Ling, who in turn is certainly the Cats' best midfielder.

Like last week, he covered a lot of turf & like last week didnt find the damp conditions to his favour. Still think he was among our better players in both finals, due to his endeavour & his class. We know he can play better but it's out of order to be pointing the finger at him - I can think of several others who need to be climbing into the Room Full of Mirrors before Goodesy.

He's done little since he was BOG against Adelaide--and he was struggling before that.
Could he be a defensive option this week?
If we are forced to play Leo on Gehrig again, I think we may as well right the game off now.

                    1. Ling is a tremendous footballer with an amazing ability to cover ground all match with the added plus of physical strength. Very unusual footballer
                    2. Goodsey is very much a one touch instinctive player. The bizarre wet conditions didn't help
                    3. No doubt he will lift against the aint's next Friday night

I think he's been in poor form, but hopefully that will change.

Wishful thinking, but imagine if Goodes, Hall, Kennelly and J. Bolton were all able to shrug off their current form slumps next week....

I thought Goodes' endeavour was fine all night - just let himself down on the skill side. Definitely lots of room for improvement but don't think he deserves to be lambasted any more than about 18 other players.

And not sure about Kennelly being in a form slump. Poor game last night, but he was one of our best just 8 days ago, and had been in pretty good form in the lead up games. He ran so much last week that he may not have had much left in his legs last week. Hopefully a week to freshen up with see him back to his daring self against the Sainters.

Well if we're down at half time, maybe Blighty should come in and rearrange our team. How does this look?

We'll start with his two options from last night: Leo as rover, Tadgh can play ruck rover.

                              Put Goodes at fullback.

Maybe put Buchanan or Schneider at full forward. The other can play in the ruck.

Make sure Paul Bevan is on the ground for the full 120 minutes. Doesn't matter where he plays.

                              Not a bad start.
