If I recall correctly we went in with a lot injuries last year and Willo went off after 10 minutes never to return.

We are far harder and commited this year and given a good surface we are in it up to our necks.

Is the saints backline a little suspect. Will Maguire play. Hudgston is short of a run. Harvey is the key. Stop him and we are a real chance.

Crouch to Harvey as the only one to keep up with him. Hit him hard early, tackle him hard and make him earn every kick.

Will LRT play on Riewolt. He doesn't have to get a kick as long as Riewolt doesn't get one.

We must win in the midfield.

The only problem there is Crouch would be the most obvious matchup for Milne, who has caused problems in the past.

Unless Hamill is injured I think LRT will definitely get Riewoldt again.

Agree with Crouch onto Harvey, which will mean that someone will have to pick up that little ******** Milne. My wildcard is Schneider...just a feeling.

No, not all of them, but hopefully we won't have to.

Can we beat them? Of course we can. Will we? Another matter. It will depend on Injuries (the most important player on any team) and who turns up to play.
Our midfield is not star-studded like St K's but we can hold them and add a bit. Gehrig is not 100%, to the extent that I would even settle for Leo on him.
The big question is whether the blokes who have been underperforming can step up - Goodes and Hall the obvious ones. I think St K's style will give us more room than WC's and Geelong's which will suit Baz.
And I don't think we should take Willo into this game - give him time to be right for the GF (if we get there) but keep Bevan (or bring in Moore or McVeigh) and bring back Vogels or Schauble depending whether we think the defence or the forwards need bolstering.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                very good idea.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

No way. Harvey is slow. Just very clever. Benny Mathews will get IMO. With Ablett as the other option, but he will more likely get Ball.

I really do not believe that Sydney can beat the saints, I think they will expose our smaller defence, as Barry will go to Gehrig, leaving the smaller and more inexperienced LRT to go to Riewoldt. Milne SHOULDNT be a problem, but most likely will be. Our midfield will be able to run with the saints, Kirk will go with Harvey, and our forwards just need to play how they did in the last month or 2 of the home and away season and they will win out there, our only problem is restricting St Kilda from scoring. Oh, and Hall has had his 2 bad ones, shocker in perth, and lack or opportunities last night, so its his time to fire up, and dont worry he will be hating it!

I still think, on Paper, St Kilda with the home ground and the stronger, more experienced forwards should get over Sydney by a few goals, but as we all know, NEVER RIGHT OFF THE MIGHTY SWANS!!!!!

Yeh i agree...on paper they get over us easily. But you can never write off the swanies. We are the type of time who can play ******** when u expect them to play well, and play well when you dont give them a chance. I honestly don't know what to expect.

Hopefully willo will be fitter this week though, which looks unlikely...

if we play like we did against geelong we will get spanked to buggery. But we are there and we have a chance, its our first rubbishy type game in ages and we still won it, perhaps it shows we are a good side.

We need to get the lead early and finish it off quick, im sick of swans playing in close finals, since 1996 have we ever won a final easily? it keeps costing us. Im sick of being happy with winning the odd final, we have to win or its a waste of the last few years and i think we can do it. But we need some key players to pull their fingers out. Even though it was close against geelong, given how bad some guys were for most of it they may be fresh for friday night.

They key to beating the saints will be controlling the midfield and a good backline performance, we need barry at his best and lrt to help etc etc. Also someone follow Harvey, chain themselves to his legs if they have to, because agaisnt the crows he ran free and rampant and he won the game. He is still a great player and like a few of their guys he will be fresh cos he has missed a lot of footy.

I just hope we win and that the team isnt satisfied with a come from the dead semi final win.

We will probably need a superlative effort from our boys to beat the Saints, because they have beaten us comfortably the last two times we played them in Melbourne. On the other hand, we really stuck it up them in round 11 last year when we ended their winning streak. So we can beat the Saints.

Let's hope for a game like QF 2003, but without the injuries.

There is no way you can ever right this team off. Victories against Brisbane in 2003/2004 at the gabba , Port 2003, Brisbane earlier in the year, Melbourne anzac day 2003, QF final got within 5 points, against adelaide lost by 7, Richmond came from behind by 45 to lose by 1 and friday night.

We can win no doubt about it however it will be one of our biggest challenges. Probably the same as WC and Adel that we've played recently, we went pretty dam close then no reason why we cant again, if stkilda is so much better than them, why did they finish 4th?

Good point...it wouldnt be fair to write us off. St Kilda did finish fourth and we finished third so we should probably be given a little more credit than we are being given.
