Does that mean we're giving money to Collingwood?

Well, we don't have anywhere else to go close to the ground, so I suppose they are doing their best.

The Melbourne office were very busy this morning, sending out emails about this Friday's game.

All credit must go to the Melbourne Office, since they appointed Tony Morwood the events and communication has been fantastic.

Can we at least set a goal of not getting our bond back?

I believe that Collingwood only rent the Lexus Centre on certain terms from the State Government and the Olympic Park Trust and don't own it. Therefore the money goes to the Olympic Park Trust rather than Collingwood.

Well that would depend upon the terms of the lease wouldn't it. I heard that the Pies had a pretty good deal and imagine that they pay a fixed rent and have the right to profit as much as they like under the lease. It is highly unlikely that the Government would be entitled to anything.

                Of course

I have heard that too, but I have heard that Collingwood only profit from events that they hold or help put together. But at the same time the VIS and other sporting groups lease the Lexus Centre and could make the point that they would be just as entitled. I would think that would come down to what the Olympic Park Trust decides I suppose.

it is highly unlikely that the Government would be entitled to anything.
The government itself directly, no of course not. But the government has the Olympic Park Trust to do that job for them and I would think the Olympic Park Trust who run, Olympic Park, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park, Vodafone Arena, the Lexus Centre, and Edwin Flack Oval on behalf of the State Government does have a right to make a profit year to year and would be just as entitled to profits from non-Collingwood events held at the Lexus Centre as Collingwood.

But if the rent for Friday's event and other like it ends up in Collingwood's coffers, then they are entitled to it, but as the Olympic Park Trust showed in the debate over Collingwood's wrongful naming of the training oval that they use, the agreement Eddie makes people think they have isn't really as good as it made out to be and the Trust has the balls to take Collingwood to task (Hense Edwin Flack Oval isn't officially known as the Lexus Bob Rose Oval) if an issue comes up.

I thought it was Collingwood HQ. Sounds like the flipping AIS or something.

For the benefit of us Sydneysiders, where and what is the Lexus Centre?

Collingwood's whiz-bang-apparently-taxpayer-funded-but-let's-not-confirm-or-deny-headquaters. Across the road from Rod Laver Arena - it used to be the Glasshouse basketball stadium.

So no Cricketers Arms get-together then?

I'm flying from Newcastle at 7am. Will be in town from about 9am.

I wonder what I am going to do all day. Anyone else in the same boat?
