yeah we think that buchy and a 1st rounder would be too expensive and cats fans would be saying that its not enough. thats why trading is a bastard alright

    maybe saddo and 2 picks?

I see Jonathan Hay is up for trade . . . could he be the extra big defender we've been looking for?

For those not aware who Kevin Sheahan is, he is the AFL Junior Development Officer and the most authoritive figure on junior talent in Australia.

Kevin left me in no doubt that this years draft will be one of the most thinist he has seen in the last 10 years.

He also commented that the current batch of Under 16's Australia wide was the best in recent memory and that next years draft was going to be a bottler.

He suggested that many clubs would only delist the minimum and in alot of cases would re draft their delistings.

So based on the above can't see us trading for picks or players this year.

            DST
James Hird was supposedly thin at Number 79 or something like that when he was drafted by the Bombouts. The only reason Essendon evetually drafted the champ with there 6th pick overall was because Hird's grandfather said there would be recriminations if he wasn't drafted......

I'm not inferring that Sheehan was wrong, I am simply stating that some players develop later or don't fit the so-called mould of the athletic, 190cm, 85kg modern day footballer. There is a Greg Williams, Sam Mitchell and James Hird type waiting in every draft.....

Dunks was pretty consistent with the old handball.

Interesting to see the Roos might let Shannon Grant go.

                        Hay = 20 games 71 Kicks, 121 handballs.

Hawk Fans were giving it to him every time he got the ball, and when he kicked they wen twild.

I can't see too much wrong with our big defenders/fwds in the undefeated twos, Vogels,Grundy, Campbell and Quade.
Give them the same crack at it that LRT has been given and we could have what we want for a fraction of the $400,000 plus that Mike Sheehan says Hay is on.(see the herald sun today). They all are young and can kick as well.

Saddo is an interesting one because I think that he does have some value. I noticed that he has been mentioned on Big Footy by both Bulldogs & Brisbane supporters without too many complaints. That doesn't really mean too much but I think that other supporters rate him higher than we do. I've actually mentioned before that he might be useful at Geelong because they could do with a tall forward that can kick. Don't think they'd go for it though.

Hopefully a real win/win deal will come up. I've been thinking that something along the lines of O'Keefe for the Weagles' Kerr would probably work out nicely. As much as I'd hate to lose O'Keefe, there would be a net benefit in that deal and the Weagles might be interested because O'Keefe would immediately become their best forward.

But, chances are, nothing much will happen - except I read that Shannon Grant may be leaving the Roos

I think this is exactly the sort of deal we should be trying to put together. Take advantage of comparative advantages/disadvantages.
