Years ago when basketball cards where popular there was a series call signature moves which labelled players with particular feats that they made their own. Watching friday's game a few times over I've come up with a few players that have trademarks on a few moves in the AFL:
The Nick Davis fend off.
He gathers the ball and being not as pacey as most players must push off opposition to clear himself for a possession (ie. 3rd of his 4 goals on friday)
The Leo Barry sidestep.
Leapin' gathers and feigns to the left, goes on to his right but realises he has no right foot. Even though 11 times out of 10 he uses the left, Leo is still able to use the sidestep and break free.
Fist's Pumping with Adam Schnieder
2003 his biceps blew up from punching the air, has been quiet lately yet still owns the celebration more than other swans.
The Adam Goodes Showcase.
Most times he takes a mark, Adam lifts the ball sky high just in case the umpires weren't going to call it.
After the Siren kick from Barry Hall.
Has done it 2 times in 4 years to send his side into a win after the siren. Steady kick and has got the experience to goal under pressure.
Head Duck by Amon Buchanan.
Nearly Peter Filanda 2.0. He goes face first towards the ball yet knows where the opposition arms are to force a too high free kick.
Fosdike's Silky Skills
He's actually pretty smart, but before the ball is gathered Nick is already ready to pirouette a couple of players before a slick give off.
The Brett Kirk Bump.
Stregth and Determination. Holds firm and is never shaken up. Can hit or be hit and get right back up for the second effort. (ie. 1st Qtr QF vs WCE on Banfield, turned into near goal)
Paul Williams steady Shot.
Around the 40-55 metre area from goal on the run, Paul is a dead set certainty. Even under pressuer delivers the Goodes. (ie. vs Brisbane '03 on the siren in 250th)
Stephen Doyle career mode
Get injured for the majority of the season.
What do you think, any truth in these? Add any more you can think off...
