"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''. -

No wonder there's so many Collingwood fans.Comment

Do you reckon more people will watch than in 1996?
Here are the 1996 GF Ratings for anyone that's interested.
---------------------------------------------------
Peak AFL nationally 3,998,800
AFL Sydney 1,278,900
Pretty good stuff. Now consider that in 1996 the daytime rugby league grand final rated 1.320m, so the swans did pretty well i think.Comment

I agree that the ratings will be very good. Don't forget that this year the Swans have had the benefit of one extra game to generate additional publicity. 1996 involved qualifying final + preliminary final + grand final. This year we've had a qualifying final + semi final + preliminary final + grand final.Run2Live,Live2RunComment

based on an average of 414,000 in Sydney, you'd think it would have peaked at around 600,000 as those with a passing interest tuning in during the last quarter and stayed.
Not supprised if the Sydney media only report the half time average again though.Comment

Awesome ratings! Everyone I know was watching, even people who dont normaly watch footy.Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.Comment

If you were using a weekly TV guide rather than reading it from the daily paper then it showed the game starting at 9.55pm and a movie on at 7.30. That wouldn't have helped!Last edited by poundpuppy; 18 September 2005, 04:29 PM.Lord, help me to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

A few things to remember .
The figure you are quoting is the average figure .
The peak figure was much higher .
Whatever the figure , the figure was higher than Footy cities like Perth and Adelaide.
People meters do have problems .
6 months ago I was asked to have one , but they refused because I had DIGITAL TV . That's a sizeable audience to cut out .Now I'm in the survey as they now have digital Tv people meters .The biggest problem is with the distribution .Uneven distribution is going to give sudpect results . Also the meter still depend on humans and logging in .I and my family and my friends represent a sizeable chunk of ratings .I chose to go the finals this year . Because they were TV live the ratings will be lower , whereas the interest was suffiecient for me to pay $100 and see the Eagles and the Crows and the WAFL GF etc .
Look for a big rise in ch21 ratings !give it to the gameComment

Even though we're in suburban Sydney area, we never watch channel 10 Sydney anyway....even when afl was on 7, we would not watch it on the sydney station. Most people I know in southern Sydney have a second aerial pointing to Wollongong transmitters. It's great for the cricket also when not live into sydney, its still live into the gong. It does have its bizzare side though, as generally the affiliates are very amateurish...once this year the 10 affiliate actually came back on air after a goal to a different game...the cadet in the control room also has little idea of aussie rules as often they squeeze an ad in after a point, or sometimes play a full spread of 3 minute ads..."Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."Comment
