    GF Travel - Cheap Deal

For the realists or pessimists who are not getting their hopes up after the Swans' most recent effort:

If you are looking for a cheap (and nasty) way of securing some Sydney to Melbourne travel just in case the Swans make the GF, I recommend Countrylink trains (tel 13 22 32). If you call today you can still purchase a 7-day advance fare and not pay for it until Sunday 18/9. You reserve the seat yet don't commit to pay anything until after the P Final results are known. Fare is around $100 return and seats are still available on the overnight Fri/Sat am service.

But if you are an optimist, book a flight quick!

I did the optimist thing for this Friday's game and spent much of last Friday nights thriller worried not only about losing but also what the hell I was going to do with my air ticket if we lost.

What the hell. I just booked a return ticket to Melbourne on 24 September leaving Sydney early Sat morning and returning Sat night on Qantas for $240. I figure that if Sydney dont play I might still try to go to the GF and cheer on either the Crows or the Saints. Or I might pay the $33 fee and rebook the flight for some other time.

Cruiser, you optimist, I hope you left time in Melbourne on the Saturday night to celebrate the Swans first premiership in 72 years!

A few hours, then some celebrating on the return flight before I arrive back in Sydney for Sydney based celebrations that same night with friends who couldnt go.
