    After Match Activities

After the game I will be looking for something to do until the next morning when I head back to Sydney (Cant see the point of paying for a hotel room for only 8 hours).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I've done the stay up all night and catch the 6am flight home hotel room $ saver a couple of times in Melbourne and its really hard work, especially if Sydney lose. And as a friend pointed out to me, Melbourne isnt Sydney and there isnt the same number of venues or people to keep you going all night.

At least after games in Melbourne you are guaranteed of about 30 RWO/CS members to keep you company till about midnight, win, lose or draw, and dare I say if we win this week we'll probably be out later.
Family atmosphere licenced pizza places. Just go to the cheer squad after the game for directions and maybe a lift if someone has room in their car

Tell me about it! We trawled the entire city in search of a pub with a beer garden after the Rd10 effort earlier in the season (I cannot bring myself to mention what team we lost to!)... and we have discovered that there are none in Melbourne.

They have this obsession with calling it a 'pub' during the day, then making it into a goddamn nightclub as soon as the sun sets. $9 for a Vodka and Justin Timberlake belting out one of his so called tunes is not my idea of a quiet drink and a sombre chat.

So can any Melbournites prepare me with the name of a pub that is a real pub in the good, ol' fashioned Sydney sense within 30mins walk from the G? Just in case?

                  Cheers and beers.
                  Or vodkas.
                  Or pink lemonades for Bon!
And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.

You reckon - Melbourne has more nightlife than Sydney ever has to offer.....Lived and experienced the nightlife in both cities and believe me, Melbourne is more diverse, eclectic and cultural than Sydney has ever been !

Here is a list of the following areas of Melbourne and inner Melbourne to drink and/or eat in celebration of the Swans victory over the Saints -

Melbourne CBD - numerous places to eat and drink, particularly the MCG end of the city, which has fine establishments on every major corner and laneway.
St.Kilda - take your pick of at least half a dozen pubs and restaurants. Prince of Wales, the Espy, The Saint and Elephant & Wheelbarrow are my picks.
Richmond - Pub on every corner usually open to 3-4am. These include the Swan (Wayne Campbell's pub), London Tavern, Richmond Club, Great Brittain, The Depot, Holliava, Vaucluse and the Richmond Public House.
South Melbourne - Bells Hotel (where the Swans fans will be celebrating), Golden Gate, Motel, Marquee, Limerick Arms and Seven.
Fitzroy - Perserverence, Provincial, Night Cat, One Twenty Bar and many more.
Collingwood - A Bar Called Barry (no lie....), British Crown and the Tote
Prarhan - College Lawn, One Six One, Station Hotel.
South Yarra - The Botanical, Bridie O'Reilly's and the The Imperial.
Lygon St & Brunswick St - heaps of eateries and drinkies to be had....
                            Essendon - O'Sullivans

My choice after the game would be European Beir Cafe (I'll be there) on the cnrs of Exhibition & Little Bourke Sts till late, followed by any number of establishments in Carlton, Fitzroy or Collingwood for easy access out to the airport for a 6am flight...

P.S. PM myself for more info.
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

P.S. Why the hell would you want to a beer garden in the middle of a Melbourne winter - very silly billy of you !!! When the Spring Carnival hits in November, every second pub in Melbourne has a converted beer garden.....
