    Team celebration

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but does anyone know what the team would have planned as far as celebrating if we were to win the big one?

We're trying to work out our flights back after the GF, so we wanted to know whether the team are expected to stay in Melbourne for post-victory celebrations, or would they fly straight back to Sydney? We want to be wherever the action is.

Should the Swans land the premiership, I expect the Swans to celebrate in a similar manner to the Brisbane side in 2001 and subsequent years. On the Sunday morning following the Grand Final, the Brisbane Lions made a visit to the Brunswick Street oval in Fitzroy to meet the old Royboy faithful. Then they flew out later that day to take the cup to Brisbane.

I would expect a similar celebration here. A Sunday morning celebration at the Lake Oval, followed by a Sunday flight to Sydney.

If possible, I would fly back to Sydney on the same plane as the players

If we're in the GF I'll be heading down on my motorcycle. Maybe I should take a spare helmet in case any of them want a lift back on the bike?

I think they'll be partying all over the place. Agree they'd stay in Melbourne for some of Sunday then fly back for a monstrous welcome in Sydney!

Thanks for that, we thought it would probably be around the middle of Sunday. I'm too lazy to stalk the team so I wouldn't have a clue what flight they'll be on!

I can't be 100% certain but I thought I heard on the radio the other day that if an interstate side was to win the premiership then the players would be presented to their members/supporters at the Punt Road Oval laster that night.

The Punt Road Oval is already holding a GF BBQ with the game on the big screen so would assume they would just then roll it on over to the party for the winning team that night.

For reference in 1996 the Swans opted for a night function at the Glasshouse (with the traditional dinner for both teams organised by the AFL for both clubs seperately) followed by an early morning flight back to Sydney for a function in Sydney in the afternoon.

Hopefully a Swans Members only function with tons of lollies and ice-cream.

If we make it to the Grand Final, I'll be going to Sydney. I'd love to watch them train before the big one though.

I think the big dinners were part of the centenary celebrations because i don't remember any other clubs since having had big dinners mentioned as part of their celebration, but I could be wrong!

I'm hoping they'll do the party thing at the SCG or busloops or something, but in the morning! Damn local footy presentation in the afternoon!

But I can understand them staying in Melbourne for a party on Sunday morning! Thankfully I have the week off uni so can celebrate for a week anyway!

was announced on WLF during the week. The four clubs tossed for GFD venues and we beat Stkilda so if we win it will be at crown but if we lose then stkida get crown
