Marketing people tell clients similar things. It is amazing how much more money people will spend when they think they are liked.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock made a point of thanking the club's fans for the fiercely partisan backing given to his side during the 1-0 win over Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

But the Scot has is asking supporters to recreate that fervour every week at Hillsborough as he bids to keep the Owls away from the Championship drop zone.

Sturrock said after the game: "The atmosphere was incredible - to have nearly 30,000 on a Tuesday night is amazing. They made such a noise you didn't hear the Leeds fans all night."

He added: "It benefits the team. Last season the fans took us all the way to the play-off final - I do believe that. I'm afraid to say they're going to have to do it all season for us this year. This is a difficult season for us, the first six games have made that plain."

St Kilda is the new Collingwood for me. I have no time for them or their moronic supporters. What sort of club tanks for two seasons in a row to get the best picks in the draft?

I thought the team lifted when Davis kicked a goal...
