Like the idea of Powell and Brennan opposing each other. Both players have been used on Half-Back flank and Half-forward flank and are similar sizes (and self-belief).

Bradshaw was in ominous form the other day, I thought. He's just come back into the side, though (I think)

Frankly, the bulk of the team, look a little tired, a little proppy

Something's got to give. brisbane have been below their best, hanging on and playing well enough to win, either by tenacity or by sensational one quarter bursts. They're a little bit like a ferrari being nursed through the final stages of a race by a great driver.

It can't go on forever, though. One of two things must happen soon. either the ferrari will cough and splutter so much that a pit stop is required (read four goal loss to the Swans) or the gentle application of accelerator will make the monster burst into life in it's full glory (read ten goal massacre to over the shell-shocked Swans).

    Fortunately I'm not abetting man

It will be an interesting game to watch. Brisbane are such a class act I think they will do enough to win, even without a number of key players. I think about 4 goals is right. It will be a big test for us to see whether we can actually maintain form for any semblance of time.

        Ashcrofts 300th

If it wasn't Ashcrofts 300th I would be tipping Sydney.

No doubt they will be pumped up for it.

I highly doubt that it would be a blow-out, if anything a shoot-out.

        Brisbane are very vunerable now.

        Should be a good game

            Why we can beat Brisbane

Here's some reasons why we can spring an upset:

            * Brisbane play a similar hard-tackling pressure game as Collingwood. The Swans showed that they could stand up to the Collingwood pressure which will give them confidence that they won't be intimidated and pushed around by Brisbane.

            * Brisbane have some injury problems. Brown out is a blow to them, he could've caused big problems. Lynch is struggling with chronic fatigue and may not be right even if he plays. Leppitsch and Keating are also key players they'll miss.

            * Brisbane are stronger in midfield and defence, but I think we're stronger in the forwards (particularly if Lynch is missing or not on his game) and also in the rucks and hit-outs.

            * This will be Brisbane's second away game in a row. That could bring them back a couple of goals.

            * As several have pointed out here, Brisbane have been winning without really playing great football. Did you know that they have won only 13 quarters this season (out of 24)? A few times they've relied on one big quarter to win the game. If the Swans can play strongly for all four quarters without concentration lapses we might just do it.

            * Brisbane are due a loss. Voss is due a quiet game. And BBB is overdue a big game.

            Swans by 10!

Yeah i agree with you mate and now that Brown is out and Lynch is no certainty to play it allows our smaller running backman to hurt the lions. If Brown and Lynch were playing I think the job would have been just to big for our defense. The lions are defenitely due for a loss and we have the side to do it. If they are a bit flat like they have been in the last couple of weeks our mob is good enough to beat them.Go the bloods

Call me a traitor if you want but actually I would prefer us to loose this game. The last thing we want in our re-building stage is to beat a injury-ridden team and finish there or there about. Of course, it is not our fault that we play Brisbane when half of their players are unavailable. But I would not go all out to win the game. If Brisbane win, it wont upset me as long as our younger ones improve and show more things.

And yes Powell on Brennan would be a great match-up to watch.

Well, you can only beat the team that is sent, as they say...

I would personally be upset if I thought the side was going out there with anything less than 100% commitment. You just don't flirt with form. If you're saying play for draft picks, then I most certainly don't agree with that philosophy, especially not 6 rounds into the season!

Early draft picks should be a consolation, not a reward! If we finish last, I can think "at least we got the #1 pick".. but until the end of the season, I want every win that we can possibly get.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
