    Gehrig to retire?

Rumours floating around Bigfooty, also hinted on Seven's morning news that he will retire at the end of the year win lose or draw.

Odd timing, isn't it? First all the smoke and mirrors around the Saints injuries, now this. I want to beat them more than ever now and hope we end Gehrig's career!

Reminds me of the WC game at Subiaco last year when Jakovich announced his retirement on the morning of the game. Hopefully our players are smart enough not to be distracted by all the news coming out of St. Kilda this week.

I'm hoping the St Kilda players are distracted, ala the Cressa retirement announcement in 2003.

Sad for him tho. Only 29 & two consecutive Colemans to his name.

What he's done this year with obviously significant injuries is really quite magnificent.

Shame for him to go out on Friday with barely a touch to his name...

This is the strangest thing to come out of the St Kilda camp this week.

I don't understand the logic or timing of it but hope it backfires badly.

Hopefully his retirement will distract him from performing. It can be a tough ask to keep your mind of the footy when you're thinking about your future life as a matress endorser!

Is it possible that St Kilda is trying to motivate their players to lift for him?

                Surely not.

Or maybe his injury (of a soft tissue variety?) is such it might as well finish his career. Perhaps it is a last hurrah.
