    Progress On Maxfield

Well I was wondering how people see maxfield going now with his own form and how he's handling the captaincy.
Personally I think he has proved he is the man for the job.
He is really starting to hit top form personally and I believe he sets a great example as captain. He has been super hard at the ball and seems to be very well repected by his players.

I will admit that I was a bit worried with his early form, but has really picked up especially in the last 2 games. Just go about your normal style, stuie!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Yep, Stu has definitely stepped up this season. Is getting a fair bit of the ball, and his disposal has solid as always. The thing that I'm liking is that he's kicking goals, which is something he hasn't done much of in recent years.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Have no problems at all with Stuie as Capt.

Have always been a fan of his. Great penetrating left foot kick, very quick across the ground, not afraid to carry the ball, will kick most goals when within range, still marvel at the goal he kicked off one step form outside 50 against Collingwood at the G the last time we played em there and who could forget his goal in the 96 semi against Hawthorn, in the words of a famous commentator "SPECIAL", is hard at the contest, gives it 100%and sets a good example both on and off the field.

He is also respected by players, coaching staff and admin. What more do in a captain? (And don't say a Paul Kelly clone)

I've been pretty impressed with him. His form has been solid for the past few seasons but he still had a tendency to drift in and out of play sometimes. It might be my imagination but so far this season he seems to be putting himself more in the centre of the action, rather than hanging out on the flanks as he sometimes does (did?). I have no problem with him being a flanker, given his ball carrying ability and ability to deliver the ball with such a penetrating kick, but this year he seems to be doing it more often in the corridor, which is even better!

Also good to see a couple of the youngsters starting to put their hand up to take over the role when Stuey's ready to hang the boots up. Goodes is the obvious one, but there are a couple of others who also seem to be taking more responsibility.

if we r to win the game this week, the responsibility IMO relies totally on his performance, so im calling it early:

maxfield will win us the game this weekend

As good as maxfield is, imo I dont think he will win us the game on sunday, if one player was to influence the result it would be a hall or a goodes for example

I had pretty high expectations on how he would improve with the captaincy.

So far he seems to be well on the way, but I expect himt o really flourish in a few more weeks when he is that little bit more comfortable and used to his new role.

A very, very, very good player who has gone to another level.

Just is ultra consistent, hard at it, makes space, runs past for the handpass and even looks like he has found a yard in pace.

The great thing about him at the moment is that he is not being tagged (not that I can see anyway), and that other clubs still rate him as an average footballer. If they not give him the respect then it is at their peril.

Could be that if we keep improving the respect thing may prove decisive as we now appear to have a number of players who may now"need to be tagged", and like Brisbane, other clubs just don't have the cattle to cover them.

Players such as Goodes, Wiiliams, Maxfield, Schneider, Hall, O'loughlin etc now need the attention of quality players.
