A HOMECOMING of sorts for Sydney Swans reserves star Brad Seymour was just part of the usual football routine when he lined up against Wagga Tigers at Robertson Oval on Saturday.
Seymour played junior football with Tigers, but it did not dwell on his mind as the Swans ended Tigers? unbeaten start to the AFL-Canberra season.
?They are just another team, no different to any other,? he said.
Seymour was impressed by the standard of play from the Tigers.
?They played quality football for three quarters today and it was probably our fitness, which got us over the line today,? he said.
?Tigers showed a lot of spirit and passion as well.?
Celebrating his 27th birthday in style Seymour kicked three goals, including the one to seal victory, and is determined to remind the Sydney selectors he is still keen to play AFL football.
?That?s why we are here, everyone of us wants to be playing first grade so I will keep my head down and keep working at it,? he said.
A veteran of the Sydney team for the past 10 years Seymour believes he still has something to offer the team.
?I am on the way back from injury at the moment but I know I can still contribute to the team,? he said.
?I am a long way from being finished.?
Meanwhile Tigers president Gerry McCormack was thrilled with the $6200 gate takings at the weekend.
?That is the best ever home and away crowd for Wagga Tigers,? McCormack said.
A crowd of about 1500 people made the most of another sunny Autumn day to crowd into Robertson Oval and McCormack was pleased to see them treated to a competitive game.
?The spectators got a real treat here,? he said.
?We were not far off their standard today and that is just one positive we can take out of this game.?
